Hole near the bottom side of fruiting chamber?

I remember reading a thread once where someone recommended putting a 1/4in hole in the side of a fruiting chamber just above the perlite. This was suppose to allow the co2 to drain out of the hole because co2 is heavier than air. One would still need to fan but this was suppose to help. Does anyone know if this works?

C02 is heavier than air so it will sink and go right out of the hole.

A friend uses an old coleman's ice chest with an 18" (45cm) florescent screwed into the underside of the lid. He keeps the cap flipped up on the drain nozzle at the bottom to allow for air flow. When the timer kicks on the heat emitted from the light causes an updraft; the lid doesn't sit snug unless you lock it down. He has the timer set to come on 4 times a day for 30 minute intervals.

yes, it works well . stuff the hole with polyfil, add an air pump, and you can forget about fanning . you may need do some tweaking with the vent size and air flow to get the correct rh .
also, you can put a small hole in the bottom of your casing trays to get a little air movement through the substrate . :smirk:
