B. Caapi poisonous to animals?!?!?!?!?!

i am very sad to say that my 5 month old persian cat Aiko passed away suddenly in the night. we have no clue what may have caused thhis. possibly genetics but he passed away in the spare room next to the yage plant. i saw a program on discovery a few days ago about how the leapords used the yage for hunting quests but what kind of effects could eating have on a kittin? i know ayahuasca is pretty hush hush so im sure not many studies have been done but does anyone have a clue to the effects of a small animal possibly eating a leaf?

i am very sorry to hear about your cat. i love them too. i've read the leaves do contain carbolines (not only the vine). but are you sure it didn't have any kind of disease (the pure pedigree pets sometimes have genetical issues)? i think it is more likely than a caapi intoxicaction... although i don't discard the possibility, due to the unknown toxicity rate for cats and to the low mass of the cat...

It could have killed the cat, did you see any signs of the cat possibly eating the plant? I've read several cases of small animals dying from eating many plants used in the ayahuasca making process or the pseudo-ayahuasca making plants.

Otherwise pedigree problems?
