So do the different colors of caapi have different effects? Is one better then the other? I am planning on buying a caapi vine within the next couple of days and I can get either white vine, black vine, or yellow vine. Witch one would you get?

Black and red will induce a heavy purge.
Yellow and White give you a light purge.
Get "Cielo" if you can!
Quote:
There are various types of Banisteriopsis caapi available for making ayahuasca. These categories are divided according to the potency they impart to ayahuasca, rather than being different varieties of Banisteriopsis caapi. --- Red caapi is considered very potent. Ayahuasca made with it was taken by a shaman when performing healing rituals. A patient would take a less potent ayahuasca (made of yellow caapi). --- White caapi is considered moderately potent. It was associated with ayahuasca made for magic rituals. Purposes included both casting and protecting oneself from spells. --- Yellow caapi is considered mildly potent and relatively gentle compared to other types of caapi. It was associated with ayahuasca made for first timers and those with limited experience
Here's a Link (Non-Vendor)
I hope the link is ok...
Quote:
Ayahuasca cielo or ayahuasca amarilla ~ heaven (sky) ayahuasca or yellow ayahuasca ~ This is the type of ayahuasca most commonly used in contemporary mestizo curanderismo in Amazonian PerĂº where it is widely cultivated. It is a relatively gentle but powerful healing plant capable of vivid and highly transformative visions. Cielo Ayahuasca is considered to be the best type of ayahuasca for initiation. ayahuasca trueno or ayahuasca negra ~ thunder ayahuasca or black ayahuasca ~ This type of ayahuasca provokes especially strong purge and physical shaking which can be overwhelming. Ayahuasca trueno should be taken only by those experienced with the medicine.
ayahuasca india or ayahuasca negra ~ Indian ayahuasca or black ayahuasca ~ This type of ayahuasca is harvested exclusively from the 'monte'(old-growth unflooded white sand rainforest. It is not cultivated. It is a powerful variety widely used by pre-columbian indigenous people.
ayahuasca blanca - white ayahuasca This type of ayahuasca is used primarily in magic, both white (benevolent) and red ( = black or harmful)
ayahuasca colorada - red ayahuasca This is a very strong shamanic medicine taken almost exclusively by shamans themselves to facilitate healing of others.
The use of colors to describe these types of ayahuasca may be based on the nature and character of the visionary experiences as well as the physical color of the plant.
I'd go with white or yellow, but would go for "cielo" if I could find it.
If I was going to do Ayahuasca, I would also grow the Psycotria viridis and the "Cielo" Caapi.
I'd leave diplopterys, rue and mimosa OUT of my first brew.
Aya' made with fresh ingredients is always better!

P.S.- The thicker and older the vine, the more potent the caapi!

I normally buy yellow but only because i have experience exactly the opposite from what that info says. Ive had red yellow and black. never even heard of white. IMO red is the strongest but it isn't THAT much stronger than yellow maby by like 30% b/c i only had to use 30 grams versus 50 with the yellow and its more expensive. also on the red the nausea was much worse the on the yellow.. and the two times i bought black caapi i had to keep drinking for about 2 hours more and more until it finally kicked in. i ended up having to use about 90 grams worth (i brew allot at a time just encase something that this occurs). so black IMO is the weakest. Because of my experience i buy nothing but yellow. The only problem with listening to my data is that the %of all the goodies varies from source to source and i could have just gotten some weak black and red vines. but i still stick with yellow.

I thought black was the strongest and red being a close second. You can't go wrong with Cielo though.
