Yea, there are two things to consider:
First: There are STDs plus the risk of getting pregnant. There are Chlamidia, Trichomonades, Gonorrhoe, Herpes Pappiloma Virus (HPV), HIV and all kinds of Hepatitis.
Second: I got a personal theory. Many things on the human body are chemosensorical: The tongue(taste), the nose (pheromones), the stomach (analyses content of food and sends signals to the pancreas.
I personally think that the penis has that ability too.
