Dancing mating ritual

What is dancing?

I thinks its a mating ritual like what insects and animals do but I find it very odd.  I know people dance for other reasons like fun but mainly it appears to be a mating ritual.

Its proven that women find men more attractive if they think they dance well.

Whats the purpose though?  Why does dancing well (from an evolutionists perspective) make you a better person to mate with?

I think its odd that people don't find it more odd, that people do these sequences of moves to each other to work out if the are going to fuck.

Just a weird thought I had.

dancing is FUCKING WEIRD.

think about it...

We humans can alter our consciousness just by moving in beat to a rhythm. Why does moving our bodies in tune to a beat effect us at all?

Now I'm not sure if dancing is just to attract a mate. To me, it seems like it can be seen as a spiritual experience.

But I do feel like society is pretty much just one big race to attract a mate.  Too much repressed sexuality. No doubt dancing has been turned into part of the contest though.  With shows like 'America's best dance crew' and shit like that, it's has officially become a competition whereas most of the social race is unacknowledged and unconscious.

I dance like a goof, and for my own enjoyment.

It takes some groovin 'music to get me moving.

I'm just starting to understand the healing nature
of it, along with the other wonderful things it can do.

Well if a guy can dance well it could show that he is agile, is in good shape, knows how to move his body, and isn't afraid to let go and have fun.

Sorry I don't care much for "cool".  Its essentially herd mentality.

I enjoy dancing for the fun element like going mad at a rave.  :rave:

I used to "dirty dance" and i agree that its a mating ritual. its pretty much like fuckin with clothes on...at least for me (danced reggaeton dancehall etc...)


now adays i dance electronic, eyes closed all by myself and its pure bliss.

I no longer like dancin with chicks and i cant explain why. Been there done that, imo its not real dancing. Or rather its not my prefered kind.
I like doing something that looks like a cross between native american dance and raving :shrug:


of course if im feelin krunk im always down for some grindin :awesomenod:

I dance because I let the Universe move through me, pulsing and gyrating to the cosmic vibrations around me...

Usually I'm stiff as a board but if I get I get drunk I'm all over the dancefloor and teh ladies :awesome:

Its fun to dance on ecstasy and I usually don't think about sex then. The music is the only thing i need and want to experience.

I disapprove the fact that dancing needs to be a prerequisite for sex. I just have the sex. If I'm dancing with mating intensions it means I'm drunk, and if I'm drunk then I've fucked up :bored:.

I think that all music and art originally spawns from a desire to attract a mate.

I can hardly see it any other way than that honestly. Think about it, it is a visual or auditory display of your mind, projecting into the airwaves around you. Sound like a mating call? All of the songs and paintings that were done about heartache, and love, and breaking up, and woman and men in general are astoundingly frequent.

i dont think dancing is strictly a mating ritual
although it certainly can be
but its also a way for us to strengthen non romantic non sexual bonds
like a mosh pit
theres nothing sexual about a mosh pit
but its all about connection, interaction

I think it's a bit simple-minded to interpret everything from the perspective of evolutionary psychology. Dancing, like music, is thought to be a spandrel in evolutionary biology and thus a 'useless' byproduct of some other process. I prefer instead to think that both dancing and music are magical, and full of creative energy to transform ourselves.

What other animal can spontaneously decide to regulate their breathing to achieve a mental effect? Whether I am dancing alone in the forest, or meditating with conscious breathing techniques in my living room, it's not an attempt to pull pussy.

Dancing for my self by myself is spiritual and causes euphoria and ecstasy but dancing in public or at a bar I try to attract women and it works so for those that don't dance you must have a great game or you don't get laid.

it is strange but woman can judge if you are a good lay by how you move to the beat and sinc with the music.  Also it gives them a way to get close to you and touch you without being put in an odd place or guaranteeing sex with you.
