A quick question on domains / hosting

Hopefully someone can explain to me.

I have a .COM  and a host running a website.
I want to buy another .COM to make a new different site on. 
Can I point the new .com to the old host and have 2 sites on it?
Or is this not possible?

Sorry if this question is stupid, I have no idea and don't want to muck up the original site.

Yes, you should be able to, but it ultimately depends on the host and domain servers.

For instance, I have a hosting and domain with GoDaddy. I was done with the domain I had, but needed a domain quickly for a particular project so I got a free domain with another website and routed it to the domain I already had and cloaked it so you really couldn't tell.

How is it done?

I assume if I just point the new .COM to the host then it will load up my old site that is already there.

Is there a way of telling a .COM to goto a directory or something?

It depends on the domain host so I really can't say.

I used this free .nr service and I just used their service and it was all automatic.

Yes, I do beleive you can point a domain to a directory (i.e. shroomeryforum.com >> shroomery.com/forums )

I found this on how to do that, I haven't really read it through, but I think you can do with any regular domain host, but it seems a little complicated.
