Buying BP Stock

I'm thinking about investing all of my money in BP stock, after the oil spill bottoms out, the company will either declare bankruptcy or cut there losses and their stock should steadily increase and return my investment at least 10 folds. What do ya'll think?

Everyone is pissed at this company for its impact on the environment, yet will sustain it for the sake of money. :glittershitz:

This is not the first time I've heard of people preparing, almost bracing, for BP investment.  :scat:

Buy something else. I have BP stock and bought more after the spill, trying to cost basis down. It was a bad move, it was throwing good money after bad. I would say avoid or buy a small position (less than 5% of your portfolio).

If you don't have a worry about ethical companies, take a look at the Atria Group (ticker MO). Great dividend (7% currently) and I think they will continue to grow. (Disclosure; I own MO too. MO is what was previously the Philip Morris Company. It split into Atria Group and Philip Morris International a few years back, after going private for awhile).

Anyways, always do your research and just don't trade off of impulse or advice you got here.

I'd be careful before I invested in BP stock right now.  Strictly fiscally speaking, you're taking a high risk.

People have the mentality that they'll take advantage of BP Stock prices going down and then capitalize once the Stock goes up.
BP stock is fluctuating wildly right now; it was down 16%, then went back up 12% and then down 10% in just a few days. 

The only way anyone is making money, is stock gambling... which I'm sure most of us here don't have money to throw around like that anyway.

Right now BP stock is around 31 dollars a share.  Theoretically, you could take $31,000 (which I doubt op has anyway) invest in 1000 shares, and then if it went up to say $60 a share, you could sell it and make some money. 
But where the risk comes in, if you buy bp stock at around 30-40 dollars a share, it could go down to $20 a share, and you'd be out thousands of dollars or have thousands of dollars tied up if the stock didn't go back up or if it stabilized for a long time around that mark, if they don't declare bankruptcy, which they probably will.
If you want to start investing in the Stock Market, I would suggest a conservative stock with small, but steady inclination trends.

Invest in Diageo (DEO) which is a company that owns popular liquors and some beers.  Liquor companies may go down from time to time, but on an overall trend, they always go up over time.
They are at about 66 dollars a share, and by 2015 they'll likely be over 100 dollars a share.  Don't even bother unless you have about $8,000 to invest.  Buy 100+ shares, let it sit a while, and watch it grow.  Then, once you get more familiar with trading, you can get into more aggressive stocks.  Thinking you'll outsmart wall street when you don't even have wet feet is a newbie's biggest mistake.
