Depends on what you're looking for. There's a little bit of everything around here. Apart from mountains, deserts and rainforests, obviously. Or vast expanses of nature in any way, actually.

I'm really into art and music.. I want to find a some chill cities to go hangout, meet some cool people, maybe see some art or go to a music festival or something

I don't know!! I have been to Munich, Prauge, Nurnberg, Mitenwald..

Im going to Koln next week... Probably Brussels as well...

I heard Hamburg is badass... I'll probably go to Berlin-- but those are all cities that I know what I'm going to see, and I have seen pictures of and such...

I guess truly what I'm looking for are the small cities that aren't in American's Guide to Germany!!

Are you crazy?

I guess Spinnst du? is a bit more colloquialish than Bist du verrückt?

the verb spinnen means to spin or yarn, to act up, to be mental, etc...

Im working as an Au Pair and going to language school... in the states I was studying international marketing and Chinese... I wanted to take some time off school so I figured, why not learn German!!

I have been here for 18 days and I will be staying for two years (if I get into University here)... so keep me updated on where you end up, maybe I'll see you in September!!

Well, as this is the most densely populated area in Germany there is a lot to do and many places worth visiting. What it does not make easier: Finding a nice secluded spot in nature. If you are into countrysides, I would recommend heading out east into Bergisches Land, south along the Rhine (the area south of Bonn is pretty nice) or into the Eifel mountains.
For parties and clubs, well, you may choose between many of all kinds. I do not really know about the Ruhr area but comparing Cologne and Duesseldorf I would say that in Ddorf the club scene is a bit more "high society style", i.ei more expensive and more dresscode and so on, while in Cologne you will find more underground style etablishments with more versatile music styles played and I find Cologne to be the overall friendlier city of the two. This of course is personal preference. Hope this was helpful advice.

I live in the countryside north of Ddorf... Im a couple kilometers from the Rhine, I ride my bike there all the time...

I have been to the Altstadt and its crazy, I never expected that much partying to be in Ddorf...

I go to Koln next week for some sort of Au Pair meeting... should be pretty cool I guess

Yeah Cologne is the shit... you should definitely take some time to explore the city. But don't be afraid to miss anything, it's just a 1 hour train ride... from my balcony I can actually see the Cologne cathedral to the left and the Ddorf telecommunications tower to the right ^^ ah and I don't recommend riding along the Rhine when the weather gets better next week because it will be really crowded there.
In summer though it's always good for a swim because it gets really really warm then.

Yes it is nice indeed. Moved here about 3 months ago, lived a bit further east in the hilly countrysides. I miss those hills as I think riding a bike thorugh a flat landscape gets boring, I like me the occassional steep trail ^^
time for bed now, good night

Thers a pretty cool Irish pub called O'riely's and a salsa one called Chongos. Also downtown Frankfurt is cool to walk around there is usually festival or market going on has alot of stores and around the downtown area there is alot of cool resturants and bars. Fun thing to do is look in the Newspaper for local festivals in unknown towns and go to them,Best part is exploring.
