I see, I see.... I agree with starting out with the basics... however I have had a year of German in college. I know my grammar sucks, but I have a TON of vocab.... So sitting in a classroom paying to learn numbers seems a little useless right now!!

ahh... yeah well they cant assume that people have previous knowledge in the class i guess...

You have to take a placement test....and I placed one point under the next level. I thought it was unfair to have me take test on the spot. I had just got off the plane and we stopped into the school to get some info and they had me take the test... My german has improved enough in the last week were my teacher asked me to be placed another class higher but that teacher told me to step down because of my grammar.....

I have to use my German every day. I live with a host family as an au pair... the kids don't speak english and the parents like to speak spanish and german at home.... The thing that sucks the most is I feel like Im being robbed at this language school and Im the one that has to pay for it... and its REALLY expensive, its over one months salary!

holy shit... that really blows...

i mean germany is awesome and all, but they kinda shafted you there...

grammar is honestly the easiest part for me, the memorizing is a pain in the ass

lucking my girlfriend has taken german for 4 years now and more or less speaks it fluently, so ive got practice...

i bet its a problem communicating in the house too, i mean we had french kids come and stay and go to my HS and it was damn near impossible to communicate with them... plus you KNOW they were always talking shit about you

good luck too, their schooling is pretty intense from what i hear, im sure you'll learn a lot fast

If I was in a normal german school that would be fine, but these are language schools that are apparently around to rape people of euros!! I actually learn more german in the pub then I do at school!! I went into the pub last night and they all wanted to help me with my homework and pronunciation. Even my host family tries to help me... they will quiz me on my verbs and stuff. I wouldn't make such a big deal about learning proper german but I need the certification from the government so I can get scholarships and go to university here!!

I live in Germany, no advice except stay away from the cops which applies to every country I think. And watch out they may have green cars and suits or blue/black ones... not easy to spot on the first sight since they introduced the new coloration...

i honestly just want to know the language to i can go and tourist around and get hammered without being another annoying asshole American tourist...

plus just wanting to know another language... random interests i guess...

I don't think so, there shouldn't be too many German folks on here. It would be a nice thing though, in the german internet we do not even have a huge psychedelic mycology forum. That's the reason I'm here... ^^

I wish I knew German. I know so little, it's useless. I took a class in highschool, I forget most of it though.
