I've been thinking about renting ODST so I can play this beta.
For now though I'm just playing H3.

Is it better than 3?

I've been disappointed by the Halo series since Halo 3. What makes this game better?

ODST was fun to rent when I was sick, but I would hate to have bought it.

i agree that up to this point halo has sort of dried out. I still cant finish that painful ODST campaign.

they have just made so many changes, not fundamental changes, but its a new halo. Like the loadouts. You can choose between a bunch of different starting equipment, as well as between deaths. In these you get 1 of 4 powers: sprint, juggernaught(impenitrable sheild), jetpack, or cloak. this in its self adds a whole new dynamic to the game, because you have to be ready to encounter any one of these.

They have also added reticle bloom, so its no so easy to spam the trigger. The new weapons are amazing, graphics are top-notch, and level design in cool. ITs just got a whole new feel to it, and caters to an audience not solely composed of fanboys. Most of them have started to complain because there is no BR, when really they just suck and cant use the newer, better DMR.

I'm not really a Halo fan by any means (or any 1st person shooter for that matter)
but I joined my roommates in a few rounds when they were playing it yesterday and I actually really enjoyed it. I don't know why, but I felt like I was doing a lot better than I normally would in a 1st person shooter (normally I'm absolutely horrible, but I was doing fairly decent).

The weekend invasion thing is a lot of fun. Its 6 spartans vs 6 elites, and the elites have to capture certain areas throughout the map and they unlock a flag that you have to bring back to win. All the spartans have to do is stop them. You get warthogs, ghosts, wraiths, banshees and scorpions. I really recommend giving it a try.
