In all reality, garcia was the better player.

what? why are you being so negative man? jerry's mindset was to spread peace and love wherever and whenever he could... he wouldn't have played for as long as he did if he didn't believe he was doing something as profound and meaningful as what i just said. its true, he lived life to the "fullest" but at the same time he made it his mission to express his souls love in every single performance, and if that isnt what you take from his life and his experience then i pity you for you are missing out on something big. if you dont like his music then dont listen; its as simple as that. theres no need to just bash him because you have the opportunity to...

oh and to the OP, no offense but this thread is pointless; trying to compare two different artists, two different souls, and come to a conclusion as to who is "better" (whatever the hell that means), is a fools errand. each artist on this earth expresses themselves differently then the last (well except for modern day pop artists like lady gaga who basically just fit themselves into the mold of superficiality, in which lies half of the american public...), and thats all that can really be deduced or concluded. its like comparing "a love supreme" to "kind of blue"; you can try but in the end you wont get anything real from it...

jerry was a diabetic, david coulda outlasted him in a bout, or just shoved peachie-ohs down his throat.

although, if you watch the doc's, david g. seems to harbor all of his hate for Roger waters, and no one else really. jerry might have a chance with a sucker punch mainline full of smack. thats really his best chance.
