Definitely false. Go into any chip section of any grocery store or gas station and there are at least 500 different flavors of chips. Ketchup is just not one you'll see very often/at all.

Potato based products and how they relate to my personal condiment choice:

Tater Chips: Very rarely
French fries: All the time
Mashed Potatoes: Never (know folks who do)
Scalloped Potatoes: Depends if the "need it" or not
Baked Potatoes: Never

I do like ketchup flavored chips, though; I think they sell them here in Germany.

I live in MN, and we don't have ketchup chips, or poutine. :crankey:

Horribly unfortunate. However the only chip I need is salt & vinegar, nothing else can compare for me. But the only place I eat poutine is at work like once a month because I get stoned and decide it would be delicious. And it is, every time.

When I moved from Canada to the states, I was shocked that there was no ketchup, all dressed, dill pickle and hardly any salt and vinegar chips. At least now they have the last two.

i always get my cheese curds from the tillamook cheese factory when i'm on the oregon coast.  They are known as the squeeky cheese, cause it squeeks when you eat it fresh.  I've never seen cheese curds in the stores.

I think it's regional too. You'll hardly ever find pickle chips here in the midwest but salt and vinegar is in every store.
