Stand Up Comedy

Whats good everyone, it's been a while since I've been on the shroomery, been pretty busy with shit. Living in the ghetto of Jamaica Queens now, shits rough, I just got serious with my stand up comedy, and Im trying to get my name out there, so I wanted to post this shit. I got lucky with the club Im working at, it's one of the best in NYC, but I'm working all the shitty nights like mondays. Tell me what you liked or didn't like, anything to help me improve. I know I got a lot to work on, I cursed a little to much out of nervous habit, and lost my place at one point, I was sick so my voice was a little off, but I hope you guys enjoy. If you like my stuff please spread the word and comment on my youtube video. And if you live in NYC and wanna come see a show it would mean a lot to me, and we can burn one down after lol. I only had 5 minutes of stand up, but have a lot more jokes, can't wait to have more time. I didn't put any of my pot/shrooms/acid jokes in this act, but do have em. Alright well hope you guys like, and be honest with what I need to work on, or what you didn't like. Every little bit helps and it means a lot to me. Thanks Shroomerites!

Definitely need to cut down on the cursing a bit, but it was pretty funny man!  Once you refine your stuff a bit, I would come check out your show for sure!

Good job. I agree about the cursing. Still thought it was pretty funny though.

I really love stand up though and I've been writing some shit and hopefully will start doing open mics pretty soon.

thanks guys, for watching/helping. And yeah HuHen, you should, it's a lot fun to do, this is my second time ever on stage, my first time was last year, I was pretty nervous and a lot of my friends who had gone were Russian, so to help me get over being nervous, they encouraged me to drink vodka, when I got on stage I was so fuckin wasted, broke my glass of vodka on the stage and my time was up b4 I knew it. I wish I still had the video for it. But anyways if you wanna do it, find the time and get started, it's a lot of fun and making people laugh is always a good thing.

I think it was pretty funny, but definitely need to cut out the swearing. It seemed to jump around a bit, there could be better transitions from joke to joke though.

Good stage presence and material though.

i don't know... it's not my kind of humor... which is not to say that i didn't like it...

it looks to me as if you're rushing through it... give the audience time to laugh... try acting a little bit more and make the jokes more subtle... for instance in the one with the "what's a 7 year old with add, no books or toys going to do alone in this room? believe me he's going to find something to play with" you could slowly look down at your cock so people just get the joke without having to tell it to them... i know it's hard to keep your cool in front of an audience, but it really helps when it comes to delivering the jokes...
oh and as someone already pointed out, try to work on the transitions...

that's everything i have to say for now...

ps: definitely cut down on the swearing

I went to one of his shows last year that shit was hilarious! Someone kept buying him shots and he was just getting shitfaced throughout his whole performance. Straight up DRUNK.

Thanks for the detailed criticism, you picked out a lot of stuff that I def need to work on, and I will. I'm gonna look down for the masturbation joke, I think that's brilliant! I'll work on all that. And for the rushing, kinda sux b/c they only give me 5 minutes of time and 5 minutes goes by quick! So I had to rush a little, but I guess that goes with working on my timing. I really do appreciate it, and will work on everything you guys said/say.

And no I never seen Doug Stanhope but that clip is hilarious!

Don't try to cram so much material in. Save some. Take your best jokes and go from there. 5 minutes is like 2 jokes, just take your time telling them.

You'll find out if you take your time, you will become more relaxed and build anticipation for the joke.

thats bad ass man, it takes guts to do what you do. keep it up. :thumbup: you should definitely talk more about drugs, that seems to be in right now.

got potential -- i'm not sure i'd pay money to see you now, but you've got a pretty solid starting place
i don't really have any criticism to add which hasn't already been covered

you might wanna try picking a few of your favorite comedians and scouring their routines with a notebook by your side
obviously i'm not saying you should copy other comedians, but if you can observe their technique and really define for yourself what they're doing that works, just having that information could be really helpful

btw, i wanna say that i really respect you for giving this a shot
i've had my own dreams about being a stand-up comic, but never taken a single step towards trying it
i don't have the balls :lol:

True, I never really watch other comedians, but I really should and will. I would never copy someone else, but I always get pist when I have a joke and then hear someone on tv do it. But thats with jokes usually about media and every day life, people can't touch the personal ones which I have a lot of. And thanks a lot, it is a little scary, but you get over it in time, and it's a lot of fun, I got a huge high off my last show, which was nice. I love making people laugh. It's never to late to follow your dreams. A comedian told me something that really helped me get over the fear of talking in front of people or fucking up, "The crowd is there to see you, you control the stage, and most of all if you're having fun they will". You should try it, it's fun, you get to vent, tell stories, and make people laugh.

remember that delivery is everything. timing and all that shit. you can have shitty material and make it great with good delivery. and the opposite is true also.

David Cross is very good at this.



I suggest studying up on other good comedians, watch for their cues. and all that. you need to be able to manipulate your audience.

Hahah! Really good man. The swearing was much at first, but you mellowed out after the initial joke, and I stopped noticing. I love stand up, you have a great presence.

lol squagles! I never seen David Cross do stand up, hes really good, def gotta start watching pros do stand up and work on delivery.

lol, Katt Williams is the man, one of my favorite comics! Hes fuckin hilarious! I do got shit load of pot jokes, from real scenarios.

Getting the munchies, ordering a pizza and then realizing you dont have enough to tip the poor guy

Trying to drug deal in Jamaica queens, which is scary.

Drug dealings a lot harder than I thought, I bought an ounce thinking I was gonna make bank, you need to be dedicated, a week later a week later 10 lbs heavier, surrounded by pizza boxes and Chinese take out, I had awoken to the reality that I hadnt seen the light of day since I picked up, and had just smoked myself in to bankruptcy. My fatal flaw was testing it out to see if it was good stuff.... it was really good stuff!

Living with a dealer while you know the cops are watching you, getting sketched out

cocaine and alcohol do not mix well

getting busted by the cops

smoking opium, everything in slow motion, while almost getting in a fight

tripping out hard, have a lot of crazy stories from that

talking to cops while fucked up

those arent jokes just a few things Ive been through that I can turn to jokes and have a lot more, but I gotta a lot of drug jokes and will use them my next show. Once I get more time I'll be able to do a lot better, but Im def gonna use them. I love drug jokes and crazy stories!
