I got some damn good news earlier today

This morning, after my first algebra class I went to the IT wing of my school to go to my CGS1000 class and class was canceled.  I got to thinking about what to do and decided I may as well go check out a lawyer a friend told me about who gets charges expunged.  A while ago I caught a couple charges, one of which was a felony charge that the state dropped before I was tried and convicted of it.  Well, just like I figured, it's quite easy to expunge from my record and be able to buy guns and all those other cool things... including be eligible to join the military.  I've been wanting to join the service for quite some time now but haven't been able to due to my record.  Anyway, after I visited this lawyer I went by the recruitment offices and was told once I do this I would most definitely be eligible to join the service, or at least my criminal record wouldn't hold me back.


So... yeah, lord willing and the creek doesn't rise I'm going to enlist!  I'm fucking ecstatic!!!! :laugh:



So anyway, I didn't really discuss prices of the expungment with this particular lawyer because 1) he said I needed to make an appointment to come discuss my case in full with him and 2) I don't have the funds necessarily right now.  But, has anyone been through this particular process and if you have what did you pay for it?

It's a personal choice.  To be honest, I don't necessarily support our government, the war, or anything like that but I've always wanted to be a soldier and experience battle.  Honestly, I don't mind violence and I know I could handle killing people if it came to it.  I think that war would provide life lessons nothing else would be able to give you.  I also feel like i'm the type person who could handle these lessons and integrate them into my personal life.  The military is really like a brotherhood, it's not necessarily about what you're fighting for but the experiences and bonds you'll form while doing it.  To me, anyway.

Hate what the government (ab)uses our soldiers for, don't hate the soldiers for supporting their country. Regardless of the cause, they don't call the shots, start the wars, etc. They follow orders and some families pay a very, very big price.

i always wondered if we could all get in the same unit somehow.

I was in the army national guard for 6 years.  I have been with active units as well as guard units.  I have been deployed and I have also done a lot of training in the states.  Don't join the military.  Please listen

For sure buddy!! I'm really all in with this, and when I go overseas believe everything I do will be well documented to the extent that the army allows.  There's just something about war and battle that has always intrigued me.  For a while, I was honestly a scared little kid regarding something like the military.  The very idea of fighting and dying used to scare the shit out of me, but now I know I am ready to handle anything life throws at me.  I'm so god damn excited.  Hopefully this lawyer will have a spot open Thursday because my weeks are pretty damn booked every day but Thursdays.

Why do you say that?  I genuinely want to enlist and be a soldier and participate in the war.  Killing and even being killed honestly don't bother me too much.  I think with my personality type and the mentality I have about myself right now I know I would be a damn good and efficient soldier.  I genuinely think I want it and would enjoy the experience.

I called the GBI in regards to a rifle I was told I couldnt buy because
a felony was showing up on my record from years earlier, I went to the
courthouse got a copy of what they had which was no more than an arrest
and asked that it be removed since there was no adjudication

they did it and everyone was happy
