I would tell on a cashier if I saw them pocket a customers money. It would have took me 30 seconds to call the dip shit out on it. The right thing would be to try to get that money back to the customer. It was the RP's job to make sure he had his change and he didn't so he created the situation in the first place. It almost looks intentional just from that bit of information alone.

The customer left it at the register. I didn't short change him or create anything, it was completely on him being a dumbass.

It was your job to make sure he took his change. So not only did you do a poor ass job in the first place, but you compounded the problem and pocketed it. You didn't do it on purpose? Thats not the point. The whole thing is shady. EVERY SINGLE person who has ever worked at a register KNOWS you don't pull that shit.

And i'll take you both on.  :matrix2:

nothing was stolen from anyone

someone lost some money and the OP found it

the person never returned for the $13 so he kept it

nothing he did was inherently wrong IMO

this is kinda what i think.  customer never came back to get it so...

but really, its $13, not like anyone really gained or loss much.  i'm pretty sure the customer won't be fucked without that $13.

and does anyone really think that actual cash should be put in a lost and found for 30 days or whatever until someone claims it??  if people actually do this, i should go store to store and scoop up all this unclaimed cash.

so after the time period of sitting in lost and found expires, who's cash is it now?  the business's??  the manager's??  i don't think so....

i wouldn't ever delibrately scam a customer out of their money or whatever, but if it was an honest mistake and the guy never returned to claim it, i'm not gonna lie, i'd prolly pocket it at the end of the day...but, i'd keep my mouth shut about it.

If I wasn't the person directly responsible for the customer not getting his change back then I might think like this too. But it was his fault completely.

Hey noticeofeviction, did you not give him the change? Did you give it to him and he just set it back down to pick up his purchase? Did he drop it? Did you see it before he left the parking lot? Was he in a hurry and you just never even gave it to him? You were supposed to make sure he got it so he really never "forgot it" or "left it", you just didn't do your job right and it resulted in you shorting a customer and then pocketing it. What exactly happened with him supposedly leaving it? How did he leave it? These are important questions that are relevant to us judging you and continuing this thread.

MORE INFORMATION

I rung the customer up and he paid for his stuff with cash. I gave him his change (which was less than 13 dollars) and walked away from the register while he proceeded to put the money back in his wallet and get his shit together before leaving the store. After a few moments I noticed he left the money sitting on the register, but it was already too late to catch him and give it back.

I pocketed it and had he come back for it I would have totally given it back to him.

I don't care anymore. But I'm surprised my first thread is getting so many replies

He should have given it to the bossman. Good way to earn trust, and it is honest, and may have even gotten him a raise quicker. Dig?
