Yeah, they count.  But I don't think I'm out of line for calling that 2005 year a fluke.  And the fact remains that aside from that season, Manning has had far more disappointment in the postseason than success.  Hell, even including that season, he's had far more grief than happiness.

For 11 out of 12 playoff teams the season ends in disappointment.  He's actually a touch ahead of average.

Every year 12 teams make the playoffs.  Only 1 ends up happy.  Everybody else loses and their season ends on a bitter note.  8.333% success rate.

Manning's team has been to the playoffs 10 times.  He has one championship.  10% success rate.

Eh, without the "success rate" of other recent Super Bowl winners, or even consistent playoff teams, we both know that's a bullshit stat. I get your point but you could probably present it better.

Say the Steelers won as a six seed and never even made the playoffs again. That gives them a 100% success rate with 4 playoff wins, but if that were the case no one would argue they are a more successful franchise lately than the Colts.

Trent Dilfer has a 50 percent success rate.

Seeding has nothing to do with it.  And, like any statistic, sample size matters.  Manning's sample size is so fucking big because he has been so successful at getting into the playoffs that it is significant.  In fact, the number of teams he personally has quarterbacked in the playoffs is close to the total number of teams that get there every year.  Unlike Dilfer.

Which is only really relevant to point out yet another element of stupidity inherent in arguing that one shouldn't count the 4 games when they won the Super Bowl.
