CHEX
    #1197666 -

Has anyone had success using any type of chex as a sustitute for brf?

Preservatives are bad, chex has preservatives.

Cheaper?
maybe easier to find I can agree but its not cheaper...
Chex cereal in publix (looks like it could do maybe 12 1/2 pint jars MAYBE)
$3.95

Verm( bag about 3 feet high) $4.00
and BRF $2.00 prb for 12 jars

Penninggtons wild bird seed mix is $5.00 for 25 lbs
That can do a loooot of jars

Maybe the prices here are diffrent and even if they were cereal will always be more expensive. But no where are easy to find. Stick with PF tek before you waste your money and your time.

and then chex has alll that crappy stuff in it, so even if you were able to get it cheaper it would still suck, even if it does work. which like many other stuff probaly wont.

good luck, if it does workk it would be pretty cool to know anyways, on those days you really really cant find anything else but why would that happen

I've never heard of a Chex Tek, but I would imagine that if you added water to ground up Chex, it would turn in to a sludgy mess, lacking nutrients and not fit for mycelial growth. I've never tried though...could you post the tek?

He doesn't say much about the results though....I'd stick with the majority concensus personally. Good luck!

i got whole grain Chex Mix cereal and powdered it with a food processor and substituted it for brf with P F cakes. and the cakes has no signs of growth what so ever. but i guess it could have been a bad spore syringe too. i used it all on those cakes.
