It's funny to see how three people in a row proceed to explain how 3D works in this instance. 3 more or less identical explanations. Is that what 3D is all about then?

The Nvidia drivers are a whole other story, for those you do need a special monitor AND special glasses (other than the ones you took). Those work by displaying on screen at 120 hz, alternating the left and right image. the special glasses click open and close from left to right at the same speed, so each eye only sees the designated picture but doesnt notice any flickering.

LCD uses a different system to get the 3D to work, you need glasses that can connect to the TV/monitor wirelessly and they are not very cheap.

You need a special monitor that costs around $400 and the glasses are around $200 by Nvidia. Oh yeah and a Graphics card better than the Geforce 8800

Nah, Nvidia's glasses have the same dark tint to it.  Looks almost exactly the same as it does in the theater.  Especially when Blu-Ray 3D comes out which I've read is in June and Avatar will be available in that format.

You're right koraks. Although I don't usually play double standards in morality, I make an exception for movie theatres and 3d glasses. I've never stolen from a business or friend.

No, and I think the moral aspect of this thread is a bit exaggerated by some. So you nicked a pair of glasses, big deal. That doesn't make you a bad person. Too bad these glasses won't do you much good without the $ 100k + worth of equipment you left behind at the theater :wink:

Not good for movies/videos games, but absolutely great for visualizations.  Oh yeah, they're a little tight fitting as they're meant for children.
