i took these 3d glasses from the movie theater...

why cant i see things like on the big screen? they are pretty much useless to everything i seen so far labeled 3d on the net.:shrug:

I got a par too from yesterday when I saw Avatar at the Vmax 3D.

What type are yours? Mine are called "Real3D" or something.

most 3D things on the net are gonna be the Red/Green or Red/Blue kind of 3D.

yep real 3d, looks like some where's waldo shit. for avatar they had a pair i guess was higherQ, they had metal tags so you couldn't steal'em.

you need to polarized images one slightly different from the second

yesterday i downloaded this 3d vision that nivida has, i loaded the drivers and all that crap but the sample pics where still fuzz.

The 3-D for avatar doesnt use the different colors like citricacidx mentioned online stuff does.  Avatar has the two different images projected with the light being polarized in different directions.  The 3-D glasses for avatar are polarized lenses each oriented at a right angle to each other so one eye gets polarized vertically and one gets polarized horizontally (for example).  Screens have to be specially made to project light polarized in that fashion.

Basically you ripped off the theater for no reason at all.

if you are sure that the image/video you are watching is the right type of 3D then it might be the brightness of your monitor.

movie theaters have to project at a certain brightness level for 3D or it looks like shit.

There was a sign that said "please dispense glasses here" and a receptical right next to it when I left avatar 3d. Well, since it cost me 8 bucks for the movie, I figured it covered the cost sufficiently. So yeah I stole some 3d glasses. It was funny because as I was walking out of the theatre, I had the glasses in my hand and there was a chick standing next to the sign and receptical. There was a moment where our eyes locked and I saw her glance down at the glasses, which I was simultaneously bringing towards my pocket rather slowly. In that moment I made a firm desision and realized there was no going back, she looked at me alarmed yet intrigued. Once the shock settled, she smiled. And I was gone in the wind. The perfect crime!!!:awedance:

yeah after avatar 3d it's hard going back especially when i see a preview for it on tv. It's like James Cameron just wanted to butter us up.:dancing:

It's especially not stealing because I paid a $3 surcharge for 3D (Australia).

They think they can assfuck me for an extra $3 then just recycle it? That's probably $500 a screening they're screwing people for.

The glasses you get at the cinema for modern 3D films use polarized light to supply stereoscopic images. The two different images are projected circularly polarized with different handedness. One side of the glasses will be right-handed circularly polarized and the other will be left-hand circularly polarized, therefore each glass blocks one handedness of polarization and permits the other to pass, resulting in slightly different images going to each eye, which is how the 3D effect is achieved. To create the video for this you need a special projector and a special type of screen. Your computer monitor is unable to display alternating frames of differently polarized light on command.

However, if you get a pair of those red/cyan "anaglyph" glasses, you will be able to view some 3D material on the internet. It's not as good a technology as the polarized stuff, though.
