So I'm going to be a father....

Wife used two pregnancy tests last night, and both were positive.  Going to the Dr today to have an official test done but we're obviously pretty certain what the results will be.

We've been married almost 2 years, together for 11.  I never wanted a child until Sarah became my wife.  Now isn't the best time, I have a little over a year left in school but I'm almost 30 so I guess now is as good a time as any.  I'm REALLY REALLY excited but scared too... lots of things to do and change in the next 8-9 months.  We'll have to move out of our apartment and into her parents place because it'll save us 1k a month, which has its ups and downs. 

I'm just so glad to be having a child with a women I've been in love with for about as long as I can remember.

I'M GONNA BE A DAD!  WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!:eek:

My advice is to find those things that give pleasure and do them often without too much attachment and relax and wait for the show to end.

I like free markets and all. Truly I do, at least in general, but there needs to be some kind of oversight in recognition of sustainability. Life works the same way, on a bunch of sustainable systems. Why not honor what made us what we are and take some lessons? Nature FTW!

Last night I think I had my head laid on my wife's tummy for like an hour, just softly weeping in joy that a piece of her and I is growing right now.

Her parents are super cool, and our apartment is way too small atm.  We're paying on her college loans too so moving into their place is the best option until I graduate.  They have a huge house so we'll practically have our own living quarters, bathroom, common area... just have to share the kitchen really.

The only bad thing is the semester started last week and I've been trying to prepare all morning for this physics lab and I can't concentrate to save my fucking life!  All I keep thinking about is everything that needs to be done.  I'm an emotional mess too, but only in a good way.  I just look at her sleeping and I tear up. 

Not too sure how it happened, she's on depo provera which has an incredibly high success rate.  The only thing we can think of is 2 weeks ago she had a kidney infection and at urgent care they gave her some IV antibiotics and then take home cipro. 

I am really, really excited though!  Thank you all for the kind words it means a lot even though I don't know any of you, believe me it means a lot.  Much love shroomery! <3

As far as school and things that need to be done: Just place one foot in front of the other, breathe deep and prioritize.
You'll be surprised how things will come together for you.
It's a big adjustment but you need to try to focus on school right now because when the baby comes, you don't want to have to be repeating this class.:awesomenod:
I understand the excitement and emotional extremes you are going through right now but the 'newness' will subside a little and then you will just fall into patterns of expectation and preparedness.
Each day is going to bring new excitement and new emotions. You just bought a ticket for the most amazing ride of your life.:eek::grin:
But it sounds like you have a lot of good support and I'm sure that you will be fine.:thumbup:

We have an amazing support system as far as family goes.  We're very lucky.  The biggest thing on my plate now is getting her on medicaid.  I'm a fulltime student and her employments insurance is bullshit that only covers simple visits and they're giving us the run around to cancel it, and IDK if I can get medicaid with this shitty insurance coverage.

Yay for the USA.  Richest country in the fucking world and two people who have been paying taxes for 10 years and served 4 in the military can't get decent healthcare.  Fucking retarded.

Be sure to explore the WIC program too. It's food for the mother and the baby. To help ensure she eats well/healthy during the pregnancy.
It's free milk, cheese, cereal, and eventually formula etc.
get what you can, hardworking people that need help deserve it IMHO.

and yeah, those antibiotics will do it.  im surprised they didn't tell you guys to use a condom when she started on the cipro.

Believe it or not TD I did Alzheimer's care for over a year... so cleaning shitty diapers from 200lb men that have been constipated for a week makes changing a baby look like a walk in the park.  :yesnod:

Her parents are cool with it, they've been wanting us to have a baby since the day we tied the knot. 

Thanks for all the kind words from everyone, I really appreciate them.  The weird thing is that I thought I'd be anxious as hell but I'm really not.  I'm just excited and looking forward to everything.

Make sure your woman takes care of herself during "incubation" lol. This time is more important than any others during your baby's growth. Twinkies, Dorrito's, and vicodins are't the way to have healthy babies.

My friend had his baby momma follow that diet, against his wishes of course, and so far everything is ok, but we'll see. Good luck

I'm very lucky, my wife is one of those women that children are just attracted too and she's been around them her whole life nannying and such.  She's incredibly responsible with her eating and vitamins, she's still working out lightly on ellipticals, as having some conditioned stamina makes giving birth easier.

The only thing she ever even used was her ADD meds, which she stopped the day she found out... she's not the drug disposal like me and I've even given a lot of my stash away to friends.  I can't be doing this shit once I have a little one running around.
