A dream so disturbing I woke up, screaming.
    #11833627 -

So the past few nights I've had a
constant pattern of incredibly lengthy
dreams. All very bizarre versions of
reality, all including many people I have
not seen in ages. And all bouncing between
perfectly normal and ridiculously abstract.

Real neat-o.

Last night I was dreaming that a friends mom
got a new puppy... some shiba/pappy mix. I was
holding it, tickling, making baby noises etc. As I
walked down the stairs, it slowly transformed into
a baby. The baby began to cry from my tickling/noises.

"Oh don't worry about it" The mother said.

And as I placed the baby on the couch, it's neck snapped.

I looked into it's lifeless eyes in disbelief. For a few
seconds that seemed an eternity I hoped it's head was
simply floppy, like babies often do.

I looked at the mother with a fear so real I can hardly
remember ever being so scared in my life. I inhaled deeply:
SCREAMED!!!

But the scream was in real life, I had woken up, and on the
same couch the baby was placed.

Anyone like to interpret dreams? Have a fuckin' field day.

I'd be freaked the fuck out if I had a dream like that.

Are you completely mentally sound,do you feel?

I've had some rotten dreams before and it really started to get me thinking was everything okay upstairs...

Haha yes, I'd say I'm rather 'normal', besides being pretty anxious.

Now if I ran through a field, laughing, killing babies.

Well that'd be a whole different story.

You are scared of breaking something fragile or hurting someone you like.

Quote:
To see a baby in your dream, signifies innocence, warmth and new beginnings.  Babies symbolize something in your own inner nature that is pure, vulnerable, helpless and/or uncorrupted. If you find a baby in your dream, then it suggests that you have acknowledged your hidden potential. If you dream that you forgot you had a baby, then it suggests that you are trying hide your own vulnerabilities; You do not want to let others know of your weaknesses.

The baby represents your own inner child. You have been hiding and ignoring the needs of your inner child, as seen by how you originally don't even recognize it but instead think it is some weird puppy.

Quote:
To dream of a crying baby, indicates that a part of yourself that is deprived of attention and needs some nurturing. Alternatively, it represents your unfulfilled goals and a sense of lacking in your life. If you dream that a baby is neglected, then it suggests that you are not paying enough attention to yourself. You are not utilizing your full potential.

Once you realize it is a child you are holding, you become aware that your present actions are causing distress to the child and that you are not full filling its needs. You are ignoring the needs of your inner self, in your daily life.

Quote:
To see a dead baby in your dream, symbolizes the ending of something that is part of you.

But you don't seek to stop the crying by satisfying the baby, instead you appeal to a higher authority (the mother) that your actions are ok. And then you kill your own inner child. Remember though, this baby represents you- as can be seen by waking up lying on the same couch that you laid down the dead baby.

Quote:
To dream that you die in your dream, symbolizes inner changes, transformation, self-discovery and positive development that is happening within you or in your life. Although such a dreams may bring about feelings of fear and anxiety, it is no cause for alarm and is often considered a positive symbol.  Dreams of experiencing your own death usually means that big changes are ahead for you. You are moving on to new beginnings and leaving the past behind. These changes does not necessarily imply a negative turn of events. Metaphorically, dying can be seen as an end or a termination to your old ways and habits. So, dying does not always mean a physical death, but an ending of something.

On a negative note, to dream that you die may represent involvement in deeply painful relationships or unhealthy, destructive behaviors. You may feeling depressed or feel strangled by a situation or person in your waking life. Perhaps your mind is preoccupied with someone who is terminally ill or dying. Alternatively, you may be trying to get out of some obligation, responsibility or other situation.

So now I guess it is up to you to decide, whether the death of your inner child is a positive change, allowing you to grow up and out into the huge world around you- or is it a negative effect of trying to stifle the dreams of childhood in order to live in our society...

Hello,Sigmund Freud Jnr. here. :hi: :awesome:

I don't know, maybe you had an experience with breaking something delicate as a child and have carried the fear through your life of going near fragile things and breaking them?

Or else, you've an Oedipus complex and the child signifies your mother and you're in love with her and want to kill her so nobody else can have her and once you actually do it,you are shocked and come to your senses?

Thats just looking too much into it.

Dreams are usually reflections of simple desires / fears.

Only the individual knows their true fears / desires that cause the dream.

Haha, the mother was not my own.

As much as shivas.wisdom had some
amazing thinking points, nice1s  comment was
more what I was thinking.

However, I will certainly reflect, throughout my day,
on parts of me that I have lost or that need to be.

A detail I forgot to mention: The puppy was adorable, but the baby was very strange looking.

Thanks guys!

Sorry dude :-(

I get the whole "wake up suddenly feeling like you fell from the sky as you drift off" often.

Plus, sleep paralysis about 5 times a week.

Luckily I've been having mostly good nights this past week :-)

it sucks cause it can be hard to get back to sleep(sometimes I don't) with my pulse racing so hard, I don't know if that's what night terrors are but I have no recollection of sleeping straight through with out waking up, ever even in elementary school.

I had a dream I was helping a bunch of kids get away from some murderer and we were running through the woods to get away until we got to this wall where there was a note which made me realize I was actually the bad guy the kids were running from.  I immediately turned evil and was going to kill the kids I guess.  I woke up at that moment.  It was truly disturbing.
