this is the first cig i've smoked in probably over 3 months, granted this is a 'higher class' cig- pall malls, still manufactured by rj reynolds though. i don't notice anything 'plastic-y' about it, the paper taste is pretty disgusting though, hence why i only smoke cigars and pipe.

Huh? Pall mall is cheap

Here is the wikipedia of what they mean by FSC which means fire safe cigarette. it seems to have some kind of vinyl in it if im not mistake...

from the article-

"The term "fire-safe" is controversial as no lit cigarette can truly be considered "fire safe." Some refer to "fire-safe" cigarettes as having RIP (reduced ignition propensity).

Fire safe cigarettes are produced by adding bands of EVA (ethylene vinyl acetate) to the cigarette paper during manufacturing, in order to decrease burn rate at the bands. The combustion toxicity of EVA has not been studied to any extent, but combustion byproducts are known to include carbon monoxide and "unknown hydrocarbons".

There is an online petition made by "citizens against fire-safe cigarettes" which cites many of the known hazards of these cigarettes in its petition.

Phillip Morris USA has reported that the Adhesive ethylene vinyl acetate and polyvinyl acetate are used in the non-tobacco ingredients of cigarettes produced as a Side-seam adhesive. However, Phillip Morris USA fails to distinguish the differences in levels between regular and FSC cigarettes. The amount does not exceed 0.6% combined. Since additional layers of paper are used in FSC cigarettes, more adhesive is needed in the form of ethylene vinyl acetate."

I shoot my own cigarettes or roll them but I don't think we have this new fire safety thingy here in Belgium.

My brother smokes Marlboro reds and I swear to god since they've been doing that FSC shit, every time he smokes in my truck it fucking REAKS of burning plastic. I can stand the regular cigarette smell in vehicles, but this shit makes me sick to my stomach every time I get in a vehicle that he's been smoking in.

It's HORRIBLE.

I smoke Camel Turkish Golds and it's just a matter of time till mine smell like someone lit a plastic straw on fire since Virginia passed a bill that requires all cigarettes to be "fire safe" by next month.

Do yourself a favor and quit before it's too late

I don't have a estimate for "near future", but I'm telling you, cigarettes have become substantially more hazardous to your health since this stuff (yeah, imagine that). If you are sensitive it shouldn't be too hard to notice. Don't ignore the warning signs. Quit NOW

roll your own cigs!

you're replying to me? Why would I do that. I've completely quit smoking, which is a good thing regardless of FSC. (especially considering how much I want to sing) My mom has just been diagnosed with emphysema from a lifetime of smoking, and everybody I know who has smoked all their lives has had a toll taken, not excluding cancers. Why would you encourage me not quit? I've quit. Done. My body will thank me

I'm gonna be doing cartwheel kung-fu kicks at 80. Are you? :strokebeard2:

E-cig?

i dont think so IMO.

like that dude said in the vid i posted.

e-cigs feed nicotine addiction, it doesn't change how you view/use cigarettes.

even if all ur nicotine cartridges run out, u will either buy more or buy cigs instead to fuel nicotine feels good man.

so i duno, :feelsgoodman:

I don't know if that's really true. The act of smoking is far more addicting than nicotine itself.
