Tattoos With Meaning

Good afternoon, Shroomerites

Today I was talking to a friend about tattoos with meaning and I was wondering what you guys think.

Do you think that all tattoos should have a meaning and be linked to the person in some way?

Or do you think that tattoos do not need to have a meaning, And that getting a tattoo because you like the design is reason enough?

im one of few, i would assume. i really dont like tattoos at all. they are just ugly to me and they only get uglier with age. nothing worse on a good looking girl that a big ugly tattoo.

there is def some stupid tattoos out there though..

they will remind you of a period of your life regardless of what the tat is,


but its also good for the image to have meaning so you can answer the question 'whyd u get that?!?!?'

I think you'd want to think long and hard getting one with a meaning because how long is that meaning going to hold true to you?

A year or two down the line,it might be a reminder of something awful that you DO NOT want on your body.

For a year or two a few years ago,I wanted a laughing Buddha on my shoulder. "This was it",I thought. Fast forward those two years and I found out the laughing Buddha wasn't it at all.

Thank god I didn't get it.

you can get tats that only show up under UV lights.  awesome for raves.

I've got one of the Aphex Twin "A" in a circle, and I'm gonna get one of an octopus my little sister drew when she was like 3;  They don't have to mean anything, as long as they're not completely retarded. But some people like nice1 will always think they're all retarded.

I don't think they are retarded but you shouldn't think that in 10 years your going to feel the same way you did for how ever long the buzz lastede of getting a tat then your stuck with it.

Also I have to question what motivates someone to get a tattoo anyway.  Biggest motivation I can think of is to show off to people.

most of my original ink was under my clothes where you would never see.

now that i ran out of room there, im sleeved up and have a few on my neck too.

i've had some of my tattoos for over a decade, and don't regret any of them.

how about you just don't get tattoos because you don't feel like it, and i will continue to get tattoos because i do feel like it.

1) i like how they look
2) they last forever
3) they remind me of times and feelings i once experienced
4) my corpse will be easily identifiable

it will always remind me of my spiritual path in life, and my father who passed away this past summer.

even when i am old and wrinkly.  though that won't happen for a long long time, cuz yoga is the fountain of youth :tongue2:
