Black Boils (on my cactus) and cactus ID
    #11376709 -

Recently the humidity has been high enough for my cacti to sprout roots near the base.
Now there are some nasty looking black "boils". They look like ooze but they are dry.

I did some searching and found out that this might not be that big of an issue but I still need some opinions on how to treat it.

get it to a dryer place if possible. my bridges get those too sometimes. its usually if a spine has punctured the skin of a surrounding pup. i wouldn't be too worried though just keep a close eye on it.

Same here, it only happens on bridgesii for my buddy and I. They really hate humidity, methinks.

Yep, common issue with high humidity.
Nothing you can do to stop it aside from changing the weather or bringing them indoors.
As long as nothing oozes or gets mushy, everything is good.

Some bugs lay eggs into our cacti, if you make a necropsia you might see it growing in the flesh of cactus.

Thanks for the replys. I was going to move them inside for the winter soon anyway.

Do you guys think I should cut and plant them since there are already roots? Or should I wait until after winter?

Also, I was told that these were Peruvian Torches and I was never quite sure. Can you tell from the pictures?

Spines are to long on those cacti to be torches.

I disagree with this. The only reason I can't outright call it a torch is the spines are too old / faded to show their true colors. Got any pics of the new growth for a solid ID?

That's the top of the one in the last two pics of the OP. The other one is darker and has more ribs. I will update with pic of the other one later.

Looks like standard torches to me, nice ones at that.

Looks a little Bridgesii IMO, but a mutt most likely.

Isn't it just a Cozcu? It has yellow spine growth and not blue enough to be a Torch. Could be Bridgesii hybrid as well.

The aerole spacing reminds me of a Bridgesii for whatever reason, might just be the angle though because the one on the bottom left does look cuzco.

Wikipedia says Cuzco cacti is active. Is it safe to say that these cacti are active?

Should I cut and replant the branches with roots growing out the bottom, or should I wait until after winter?

Looks like a Cuzcoensis to me. They may be active, but you're gonna need A LOT.
