South Carolina ID Request

Habitat: Pasture, growing in a large patch of lichen

Gills: light colored, numerous spots that have turned blue from bruising

Stem: light colored, possibly red - most of the stem had turned blue

Cap: light reddish, again mostly blued, 3-5" dia. very sticky

Spore print color: as yet unknown, in progress

Bruising: every part that was damaged turned blue within 20 mins

Location: picked in northwestern SC, very near GA

Misc: The caps are very deteriorated, as though they've been munched by critters and rotting or nearly rotting.  We may not eat these, but want to know if we should look for these more.

Both of those are nasty, I wouldn't put them near my mouth, or even hold them for any longer than to throw them away.

#1 looks like lactarius species. There are a couple that have blue in them.

1 is probably Lactarius subpurpureus
