E-cigs

Thinking about investing in one, anyone have any suggestions as to where to start? Not sure if all of em are pretty much the same, or if you have brands that are good/not so good. Any recommendations?

I would put weed in it.  Are you trying to quit or looking for another way to get nicotine.

I'm  not looking to quit altogether, just to cut back on the actual cigarettes. I have a tendency to get highly aggressive without nicotine however and so I don't want to cut back on intake, just on some of the health effects. Also, I live in MN and it sucks to go out and smoke when It gets really cold out.

if Ythan reads this he might chime in with some suggestions.  i seem to remember him being an avid supporter/user of e-cigs in another post.  though i don't remember which model he suggested.

i can tell you, however, that there are some forums dedicated specifically to e-cigs, so it'd be a good place to start doing research.

Thanks, I might have to check that out. Don't have a whole lot of cash, so well I would like to buy a variety to see what I like best, it's unfortunately not an option. I'll have to go check up on those forums and see what's recommended.

Depends on a lot of factors, but I don't really use it that way. I fill my own cartridges. I have a little kit I carry around (instead of a pack of cigarettes) with an extra charged-battery or two, an extra vaporizer, a pair of tweezers, and a small bottle of e-liquid. I rarely use up a cartridge -- I just keep topping-off the same one, so I get a fresher hit. I generally top-off the cartridge about once an hour (but I was a heavy smoker)...

The weird thing, is that this e-cig stuff has actually worked for me. I was very skeptical at first, but I was desperate to stop paying all those damned taxes and save money. And not only am I saving money, but I'm generally smoking/vaporizing less, and feeling healthier. And I can generally sneak my little fixes in while I'm indoors -- it's easy to be kinda stealth with these things, and swallow the vapor, so they can't see it...

I still smoke a few real cigarettes a day, but I tend to actually enjoy them again, rather than mindlessly sucking them down like I had been doing for the past couple of decades...

It might not be right for everyone, but it's been a good move for me...

Word of warning: I've read many things about e-cigs not delivering a standardized dose of nicotine. It will vary by brand, cartridge, and even each puff. Just putting that out there. At least you don't have to inhale all the other shit regular cigs have in them.

I don't have a source but somewhere on the interwebs I read that the e cigs still had traces of carbon dioxide and/or other harmful chemicals.

You could also look into using SNUS. Some of that is really good, stronger than cigarettes and the health effects are very minimal.

You seem to be forgetting what you're inhaling when you inhale actual cigarette smoke. Who cares if there is carbon dioxide in it? You exhale carbon dioxide everytime you breath out and you drink it everytime you drink something carbonated.

They aren't all the same, some are piece of shit knockoffs but I bought mine from Njoy, it's nice I just don't smoke much.

Troof. I've had the exact same experience and whole-heartedly recommend e-cigs to any cigarette smoker.

Think of the uses: UFC fights, Movies, Church (if you're forced to go), work, airplanes, your house when it's raining, class, the bathroom when you're taking a long shit, etc.

So whats the cost on em? I see the starter pack for the one you recommended is like 80 bucks, but I imagine I'm going to want more than just that to start out. Backup atomizer, extra batteries and more liquid of course.

So if you were to recommend what to get to start out, what would it be?

Also, about how much is it going to cost long term, to replace probably half a pack a day, since I'm sure I'll still take regularly scheduled smoke breaks at work when I have the time. :wink:


Additionally, does anything have to be replaced regularly? And if so, about how often? Sorry for all the questions, but I'm new to these. :smile:
