but I highly respect you  for being so good natured about it and actually maintaining a desire to learn the correct way to spell things.

That's funny. You were complimenting the OP for being able to take criticisms without getting angry, but you are unable to do the same.

Do you see the irony?

Yeah.

I don't really care that I've been spelling it wrong all these years. I find it funny. Especially that all the teachers and everyone else that's read my writing throughout the years never picked up on it either.

Good ol' publec edecatshun.

I had TWO english teachers throughout my years that tried to say that man and woman are plural, and men and women are singular. i actually failed papers because of that, lol.

i have a lot of other examples like that, can't think of them off the top of my head

Teachers like that are idiots.

They should be bottled up and sent away with the current.

Holy SHIT dude.  I had no idea it was that bad.  I mean, sure, you hear all the time how schools can't even afford books anymore and they are closing and laying people off left and right, but...Good God are you serious?

Man, when I was in school during the 80's in New Jersey, the schools were pretty good.  I mean, the teachers were at least educated.  I think its horrendous that the situation has gotten that bad because I value my education a great deal.

Its good to know we have 400 million dollars to waste on a fucking rocket experiment though.

ya, it was pretty bad... there were quite a few exceptions because the good teachers here really stood out in the system, they usually only came because they knew the education was kinda flawed here.

I was lucky enough to have a good number of the exceptional teachers, but i saw some pretty bad ones as well.

i remember one teacher in the 1st grade that really stands out...
i only had her for a week cuz she didn't last long, for obvious reasons.

she was reading a book to us, for story time or something like that (again, don't forget this is the 1st grade) she says, quoted to the word:
"Wow! i was reading some stuff with the other kids down the hall, [the kindergartners] and their books were easy, yall's books are hard"
as she proceeded to read like a true first grader with a learning disability.

I'm glad that from the beginning i had a my own desire for education and strive for intellect so i did a lot of extra reading and "studying" at home. call me a nerd... i certainly don't regret it.
