Photo Challenge #1 - Night in the City

For the first photo challenge, you'll need to take photos of the streets at night.  Take a photograph of the best depiction of night-time in the city that you can get.  It can be a street with lights, it can be a cityscape, it can be something like water from a fountain at night.  Your imagination is your guide, but the theme is City+Night.

Rules are the photograph must be taken after this contest has begun.  Photoshop editing is allowed, try not to go too overboard, or do superimposing. 

Challenge will last for one week.  Until Next Monday.  :smile:

Ah balls. I had a few good pics from a decent snow in Newark last year at night. Got about 8 inches in one night and I went out at 4am.

I guess I'll have to go out taking more pics. I have a good idea. :strokebeard:

Okay I've been slacking myself, here's what I got so far.



First photo is Fulton Alley in a tiny snowstorm that hit Reno the other night.  The Photo after is of Reno's newer Industrial area (they're Tech-Industrial buildings, microchips and stuff.)

These last few night should be good for everyone.  Just imagine the festivities, the colors and the jack-o-lanterns you can snag photos of!  Get out there and do something fun!  Bring your camera!

Do it, DO IT.  Tonight's the last night for this one, the theme will be different next week.  Try shooting "Tungstun white balance" while out at night.  It'll give you those blue skies instead of that weird purplish/orangish sky.

P.S. your night shots are very cool!  My only "constructive critisism" is that the horizon isn't straight on the first one.  Of course, if you're just trying to create a sense of uneasyness, then you win :smile:

Nah, It was too dark out there to tell if I had the horizon properly lined up.  However I was going by the top of the building (which is perfectly straight).  The angle of the lake might be what makes the horizon appear off?

Should we leave this thread up longer or should I call this competition good?  No one's competing.

Kickass guys!  Awesome photographs!  I'm gonna extend this competition an extra night or two, Tonight is a full moon, lighting and landscapes will be illuminated well under its light, and long exposures should be able to bring out all the color!  Good luck!
