What attracts you to someone?

What sorts of qualities make someone attractive to you? Do looks or personality matter more in your opinion?
And if you say personality, where do you draw the line? At what point are you unable to be sexually attracted to someone no matter how great their personality is?

For me, looks don't matter too much. If someone has an awesome personality, what they look like isn't important.  A good sense of humor is essential. Intelligence is important. A similar outlook on life. I like people who are good conversationalists. Nice taste in music always makes me instantly like a person. I guess there's a lot of little things too, but those are some of the bigger qualities I tend to gravitate towards.

Their style
smile
eyes
conversation abilities
sense of humour
openness
intelligence
musical taste
if they're a little weird, aren't mainstream

Looks help.  But fortunately, each of us is attracted to a different "look".
I had a boyfriend who looked super hot at first, but since he was in fact an abusive asshole, he gradually got uglier and uglier in my perception.  Eventually I got away from him.
The guy I have now, we've been together over 3 years, and he gets hotter and hotter in my perception.  I did find him super cute at first.
Beyond looks, what attracted me was his philosophical mind, also the fact that he wanted to TALK to me, not fuck me, and when things did get physical between us, it felt like it meant something.  That was pretty attractive too.
Sleaziness is ugly to me.
Being intelligent, articulate, sensitive, kind, creative and funny are all super sexy to me.  Caring about the environment and human rights totally turns me on.  And obviously if someone shares my taste in music, I find them more attractive.
Now the truth is that I take good care of myself and I couldn't be physically attracted to someone who has destroyed their body with their lifestyle.
Someone who speaks respectfully to/about others is always sexier than someone who talks trash.
Also someone can be super hot and then if I hear them talking out their ass about things they clearly don't know, well then they become instantly ugly.
And cigarettes!  Gross!  A perfectly sexy guy can light up a smoke and ... that ruins it.  No longer sexy.
A doobie, on the other hand... doobies are sexy.  Natural psychedelics are sexy, but pharmaceutical drugs are a turn-off.
So that's me.  Everybody's different though.

It's hard to say as their is many different qualities in different types of women that I find appealing, but on the whole I would have to say...

-Intelligence with humbleness. - I like them super smart. But at the same time without a super ego. Nothing more unattractive in a chick (or any person really) that is completely full of themselves and thinks they are the center of the universe. Modesty when you don't need to be is sexy.
- Looks.. are pretty important if there is to be any sort of physical attraction..everyone has different opinions here and tastes change but I like chicks who take care of themselves.
- Taste in music- pretty damn high on the list. I can't be attracted to anyone that listens to completely shitty music/doesn't like music. As I bleed music, it is a prerequisite.
- Someone who is conscious and has their own spirituality and is well grounded and their own person.

I think its important to be attracted to someone. I think one of the most important thing is someone who enhances your life. They make you a better person and make your life more fun.

Its also important that they are tolerant of my antics.

Some level of physical attraction is needed. But there is nothing I hate more then a chick with a shallow personality.

Intelligence and a dark sense of humor. I'm not talking about book smarts, though it does help. I like a person who knows a lot about life, who can see the world from different view points, who is open minded, and who can just relax and take it easy. In a relationship, I like being honest, straight forward, and open with each other. Playing games suck. Having shame in a relationship will not work out. I also need someone who has the same tastes as me.

In all honesty, I'm attracted to most women, unless they are excessively obese/ugly/rude/bitchy.

It's a predisposed tendency of mine to find common ground with the opposite sex. I work well with them. I converse well with them. And I can hang out with them comfortably. But to reach this common ground, I often find myself noticing the attractiveness of each female individual, whether it be solely physical, solely emotional, or a mixture of two. Now, this attractiveness has no sexual connotation to it; it does not mean I'd procreate with the girl. But it allows me to see her beauty. I truly believe that all women are beautiful creatures in their own design. It's a weakness of mine to associate women to beauty, but I really can't help it. They are fascinating! Their curves and overall physique are like works of art.

But with girls that I categorize as potential suitors, I usually have to have a balance of sexual attraction, romantic attraction, and physical attraction to them in order for me to take anything further.

Sexual attraction is easy. If you can effectively work what you got and you are not beyond average build, I'll probably find you sexy. But I do have a type. My type is typically brunette, petite to average build, tan, and sensual facial features; i.e. small nose, smooth lips, etc. Tits aren't key, but they are appreciated. Vagina mustn't be hairy. And her butt shouldn't be bony.

Romantic attraction mainly has to do with her Self. If she is honest, caring, outgoing, intelligent, nice, polite, and cool, then I'm instantly attracted. I like a girl I can hang out with at any moment; smoke with her, shower with her, sleep with her, eat with her, talk politics with her, trip with her, drink with her, etc. It doesn't even have to be sexual. It really helps if she has manners. I like a girl I can bring home to mom.

Physical attraction kind of encompasses sexual attraction but doesn't at the same time. She has to carry herself like a lady; good posture, good hygiene, etc. She has to have a good sense of fashion. She shouldn't wear anything too slutty, but nothing too conservative.


I know I just wrote a lot of guidelines just now, but I'm pretty open. I can find beauty in most women; it's not hard.
