Your goal should be to play blackbird by the beatles. that is one hard ass song to learn.

Stairway to heaven is a great song for a beginner. It's challenging, but not in a way that's compelling...at least it was for me.

Some good recommendations so far.. there are also a ton of easy country & folk songs to learn on. Go buy a song book! If it doesn't come with a CD, download a copy of the song so you can have a reference.

The first song I ever learned on guitar was Seek and Destroy by Metallica.


Other easy songs - Reggae
