If there is any gateway effect at all, I'm convinced that it's caused by the anti-drug mentality itself, in that it categorizes cannabis amongst the things it's said to be a gateway to. If they would classify it properly, people wouldn't even make the association between it and say meth, or heroin, I reckon.
