OMG I'm soooo happy right now!!! (first grow)

Hi, I so happy right now because I inoculated my first 9 jars last thursday, but I got scared because I later learned that I inoculated them when they were still a bit too hot after sterilization. And later I added some of those hand warmers to the "incubation chamber" to increase the heat and a sleeping bag on top of the jars (with a plastic bag in-between to avoid possible contamination) as my room temp only gets to around 74 degrees.

Well after taking a temp I saw it rose to a little over 110 degrees!! and they were like that for around 12 hours until I quickly took the heat packets and sleeping bag off.

Well today, 4 days after inoculation, I am proud to announce that most of the jars are showing their first sign of germination!!!

I was not expecting them (B+'s) to survive the extreme heat I put them through at all, so this made my day! (that, and my 7.5lb san pedro cut is en route to my apt.!!)

I just wanted to share my happiness with you all, because you are the ones that have provided me with all the necessary information to start my first mushroom grow, and I wish you all have a wonderful day as well. :smile:

I just now hope there will be no contamination..

Congrats!  74* is plenty for incubation, just fyi.  Be sure to post pics when you can!

Thanks man. And yeah, I've learned my lesson for the future.

I'll be sure to post pics in this thread. I just have to barrow a camera first ('cause I sold mine).

Yup, room temp all the way, no need to incubate. Good luck buddy and I hope you have fun with your pedro, I've got like 6 feet of 3"-4" thick cuttings coming to my place, not sure how much weight but should be a good time either way. Have a good one.

I know I failed with the pictures, but I forgot to bring a camera back form my parents.

But I just wanted to update: I got my first pin ever! Actually I notice two pins about the same size, not sure who is first but I love the sight of them both!!!

edit: and btw, all the jars were doing great in the growth department. Only one got tossed due to contamination, and another was on a late start but is catching up. And so far I have 3 jars fully colonized!

I think I'll dunk and roll the one showing pins now.

Edit: and btw, I plan on using the last 19ins of that san pedro I mentioned in the first post with my soon to be mushrooms on a little spiritual journey into the woods for a few nights. I'm think mushrooms on the first day/night and mesc. the next night. Sound like a good idea?

Oh wow! Now that I inspect the jar more closely I see pins starting to form all over! I stopped counting at 15 and just smiled at them all. :smile:
