Brevard County,Central FLA, First Hunt of the New year.... Must be close now.
    #10100295 -

Hey all, New to the forums, But shroomed for about 2 years when I was 17-19, Im 20 now and havent tripped in like 1 1/2 year! So I wanted to trip, You know that random urge just to jump out of reality into shroom world   But anyway, Today i rode my bike to a cow field near my house, and last year I remember HUGE purple ring shrooms come out of there, I was getting bags and bags full... (prob to many) But we were sure that n one else knew about this field anyways :P So I set out this morning about 10AM, with my fishing pole like I always used to do, (ya I do throw my pole in sometimes, But its just to distract any witnesses, that see my near the field...(works everytime ))  So I went out but theres alot of construction going on i didnt know about >< So i didnt get to go into the field my friends and I call "Magic Field" , SO I went to a near by one, farther down so I wouldnt be seen entering...

Out in the fields ive seen many many types of shrooms over the years but only picked the purple rings (pic below) I just didnt think any were active, Until now that ive seen people on here with an active shroom in their front yards in Central FLA! and what do you know right off the bat, as soon as i entered the cow field I walked up on a pile of cow shit with some small shrooms growing off it , which i need ID'ed please... Id like to know if these are active...I saw a bunch of these lil buggers growing in the cow poop...

Heres Pics of the Unknown shrooms i need ID'ed.

brown Skinny Stems, small pointed caps..

Ok So my main reason for going on this hunt was to find the purple ring shrooms,. I think you guys call them "coppies"  So I wandered this field that ive never been to and only found those skinny ones, I was a bit disappionted that i didnt get to go into the "Magic Field".. So after an hour i decided this field had not spawned any actives yet that i could see, and I needed to goto the "magic Field" early in the morning before construction workers get there.

BUT! Something vert ironic happened, I was on my way back home on the long dirt road that is side by side the "magic Field" theres about 5 Con. Workers about 30 FT ahead of me, I look to the left and see this beautiful little Purple ring shroom spawning off new sod and a bit of cow poop OUTSIDE the fence! lolz ,So I pulled over like something wa swrong with my bike and picked this little beauty  I was happy to see this sign of the active shrooms to be spawning! So this must mean that they will be spawning very soon, OR they are already spawning i nthe "magic Field" like last year around this time!! I really cant wait to go out there  Pics below..

and I went ahead and made a small hour spore print for the hell of it, it left a nice purple stamp on the clean paper.. Ive never grown my own shrooms , but id like to start, hopfully you guys will help me in my little adventure to start growing these beauties!

Im not sure if this will produce shrooms or not...Maybe someone can tell me.

Glad to be a part of this community, You see more of me

First one is an inactive Panaeolus, maybe Panaeolus papilionaceus.  Second ones Psilocybe cubensis.

You will want to make a cleaner print if you are going to use it for cultivation.  Put the mushroom on clean tinfoil and leave a bowl over it overnight.  In the morning remove the mushroom and replace the bowl so the print can dry in clean air.  Then put it in a small new plastic bag.

Are their any methods to grow a simple shroom like this that spawn from cow shitz ? Ive read alot about "sterile" and "cleaning" , and im like wtf? I picked these from cow shit...why does it need to be sterile lol. Just a bit ironic if you ask me. But of coarse ill follow any steps.

But anyway, Im very limited to what i can do to grow my own shrooms. I dotn want a huge amount .. Just enough to trip balls really hard one time. I live with parents now until I leave FLA in 5 months, So id have to keep it in something small in my closet or maybe outside if that works? Can someone point me in the right direction, when I searched i found methods that were out of my range (pressure cookers, shitload jars, some weird chemical etc) Like a "wal-mart" , method would be great  Thanks alot guys.

As far as growing in home, You could easily do it with walmart supplies, But you'd need a spore syringe which is pretty easy to get and cheap, I think I came across a site offering 2 syringe of any strain on the site for like 14.95, And sent to your house. And oh yeah, A Pressure Cooker.  Those are the only 2 major supplies for the most part.

Here's a guide that would have you setup very nicely if you were trying to do a closet grow of some type. It would take some re-search and a little bit of money. http://www.fungifun.org/English/Pftek#a6

Now, If you don't wanna go that far, I dunno... Take some cubies and let them spore print on some poop,. I don't wanna recommend the flicking method cuz it could just be a bullshit rumor, I don't follow it.  But you could try it out if you brought some poop back to your house or something, Put it under a shady tree and let a cubie sit on top of it for a few min.  See what happens.  Other than that I'd go the PF Tek way for sure. Simple, Cheap, Great results.

You can take home a patty that produces the mushrooms you are interested in, break it up and mix it with fresher manure and water it a lot.  Might produce.

You will get much more consistent results if you sterilize and inoculate with just the mushroom you want.

Wow, That's a great Idea... Ummm, Alan.. What do you think about using horse manure instead of cow manure?  I mean... If I come across cow manure out in the wild with like 3 mature cubies growing...

I could bring that and some more if I found any, home with me. But all I have is horse poop... LOTS of it, And personally I wouldn't feel comfortable using next doors cow poop because I honestly believe there is a fungicide in the grain with at least the majority of local pastures.  :frown:

You can grow cubes on horse manure no problem.

I don't think the fungicide in the feed stops cubes from growing, its more so the feed doesn't get rotten and poison the animals.  Even if there was enough fungicide in fresh poop to stop mushrooms from growing, after a year or so baking in the sun I bet mushrooms would eat it up.

Don't expect any results unless you are using sterile technique, but you never know.  I'd take the gills from a fresh cube, mix them well with a gallon of water, then mix in horse manure until its a good consistency and put that in a shady moist area outside.  Wouldn't hurt to warm the manure up to almost boiling and then cool it all the way back down first before mixing it in with the spore water.  Everything I just described is a big waste of time, if you really want to grow mushrooms just get a pressure cooker and follow the standard teks.

Im thinking of taking home a spawned patty with the root of it still inside then try to make a spore syringe and inject all in the spawning cow poop, along with a few other dung piles, its upto 80+ degrees here now in FLA so with water and this good temp, Id think they should still spawn, I dont have access to a pressure cooker though ><

--> Is there any methods that dont require a pressure cooker to grow cubes? I looked at the PF Tek and it seems simple enouigh, Except for the pressure cooker :frown:  If anyone knows a method that can be a very small indoor spawn or outdoor patch with the same "wal-mart Spawning" materials please share. Thanks

P.S If anyone is in my area (brevard county) willing to share a pressure cooker.

Psilocybian mushrooms do *not* stain purple. just blue.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.
