Words on Life -Bill Hicks
    #1099102 - 11/30/02 06:45 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey - don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride..."
And we... kill those people.
Ha ha
"Shut him up."

Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection,
Is it all you want it to be?

Last year in the United States, where people are permitted to carry guns, there were 23,000 deaths by handguns. In England, where people aren't permitted to carry guns, there were 14 deaths. But there's no connection! Studies have been done and there's absolutely no connection between having a gun and shooting someone with it and NOT having a gun and NOT shooting someone with it. There's no connection at all there and you'd be a fool and a communist to make one..."

In England, where people aren't permitted to carry guns, there were 14 deaths.

Good post Alex  Supposedly, that's the case in Canada as well, however the sad reality is(at least here in Toronto) that there are an enourmous number of illegal handguns out on the streets, and generally in the wrong hands. Right in my own neighbourhood recently we had "toronto's bloodiest day", 4 killings by handgun in one night.......what is England doing to be able to enforce anti-gun laws/legislation that Canada(toronto in particular) is not? <<<<<< serious question.......i could go out tonight and buy an illegal firearm if i wanted to but i choose not to....guns are THAT readily available.... :frown:

I like Bill Hicks.

Have you heard any of David Cross's stand up? I'd say it's easily as poignant as the stuff Bill Hicks did, and it's a bit funnier.

A few weeks ago a couple of friends and I took what Terrence McKenna calls a heroic dose- 5 dried grams- and let me tell ya, our third eye was squeegied quite cleanly.  *squeek squeek squeek*  WOW..........  And I'm glad their against the law, cuz you know what happened when I took em?  I laid in a field of green grass for 4 hours going "my god... I... love... EVERYTHING"  The heavens parted, and god rained down gifts of forgiveness onto my being, healing me on evey level- psychicly, physically, emotionally, and I realized that we are all eternal beings and there is nothing we can do to change that, it is only our illusion that we are seperate from god or that we are alone.  In fact, the reality is, we are one with god and he loves us...  Now if that isn't a hazard to this country....  You see my point.  How are we gonna keep building nuclear wepons, you know what I mean?  What's gonna happen to the arms industry when we realize we're all one? It's gonna fuck up the economy!  The economy that's fake anyway!
