Music for meditation?
    #10955108 -

just wondering if some people that meditate are listing too spiritual/trance enhancing music and if so, what kind of music?

Please tell me what kind of music (groups/artist) your listing too when meditating.

I use this CD for meditation sometimes:

And when I want to clear my mind I use this two (also when I trip, I put my  earphones,in complete darkness, first of all because this chants don't distract from the inner me and second, they fill me with joy and love and kill loneliness):

--------------------
Donnie: Why do you wear that stupid bunny suit?
Frank: Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

No, do not listen to music for meditation.

That would be relaxing and listening to music, not meditating.

I concur with Amber_Glow.

However, for music to put you in a spiritual/contemplative/reflective mood, I have a ton of recommendations!

Kirtan music:

Jai Uttal
Krishna Das
David Newman (Durga Das)
Bhagavan Das

Buddhist chants:

Lama Surya Das
Any CD of traditional Tibetan chanting
Green Tara Mantra 108 repetitions (YouTube)
Avalokiteshvara Mantra (YouTube)
Om Mani Padme Hum (YouTube)

New Age/Psytrance/American:

David & Steve Gordon
Govinda
Shpongle
Bonobo
Boards of Canada

“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”
