STS9 Verizon Ampitheatre last night
    #10917354 -

I just got home from my first STS9. Fortunately for me it happened like 5 minutes away from home. 2 Doses of some stuff I'd had for a while and a shit ton of bud. Holy fuck.

Ghostland Observatory, Bassnectar, Lotus, Dubconscious plus Alex B (of PNUMA), Dark Party feat. Eliot Lipp & Leo 123

Then STS9 came on. Wow. That's all I have to say. they played from 10 til like 12:30 or 1.. dunno time disappeared. I went to a bar with some friends afterwards for some food, then went to another friend's hotel he had rented out since he's from Savannah. Smoked a small amount of DMT there. I had a nice "about to happen" feeling but then nothing ever happened. It was a small amount and it was slightly yellow, but it was pretty cool non the less. Then we just talked for a while listening to some music.

:billymayshead:Pretty ridiculous night, and I'm still tripping just ever so slightly.:billymaythumbup:

K, so it was a pretty epic mini fest. I got there in the middle of Lotus' set, which was weird cause they went on at like 5. I had lawn seats, so I just walked around for a little while checkin out the crowds and waitin for my friends' to show up.

There was a strong cop presence, but I didn't even get asked to empty my pockets when I went in. People started puffing a little during lotus, but it was still way too bright out. Eventually you could just smell it constantly and hear people shouting out "Molly! Molly!" randomly.

Ghostland Observatory had an amazing light show. Bass Nectar had some crazy ass visuals goin on behind him, very DMT like. Some of his music was offputting. He would get just a kind of eery sound and just hold it out in the way that he does for like 10 seconds. It wasn't bad, it was just like "i'm tripping and that loud repetitive noise is building in my head and OMIGOD!"

STS9 came on stage at just before 10 and proceeded to melt faces for 2 and a half + hours. They're got these 3 LED boards behind them on stage just flashing any colour you like. It was crazy. I love their music, but being there live is the way to go. The atmosphere, the lights, and overwhelming sounds of a large amphitheater venue. They came back for a 45 minute encore.

I can't wait to see them again.

STS9 and Bassnectar in the same night? I'm jealous! :awesome:

Yes. Hearing them live is SO much better than anything they have recorded. And I love the atmosphere at Sound Tribe shows.

I've seen them 4 times so far this year, and they're coming my way again in October. :omgawesome:

i was pretty spent by the time sts9 came back for the encore. I got freaking floored by 2 drops of liquid and did a bit of molly during bassnectar, it was really annoying when he got cut off mid song. I realize his sound isnt for everyone, but that place was a freak fest from 600 BC during his set, some major energy flowing. Wish I had brought my herbs to the show, I didn't get searched coming in either, most of the cops seemed to be more focused on drunk people passing out on the ground than anything else.

Im glad you had a great show. Thats what they do...and hopefully what you do.

STS9 is one of those bands for me...gets me talking that back in the day shit. My first Sts9 show was in '00. Seems them plenty through the years. Ate my first home grow mushies at a tribe show.

When we first started seeing them the stage would be covered with crystals and flowers and all sorts of cool, natual, trippy stage pieces. Their music was a little more organic back then. A bit like Lotus is now, a little more groove, a little less dramatic and composed sounding like now.  Then the artifact material seemed to change all that.

I remember one show around 04-05. We started getting faced early in the day...by the time the show came around we were out there. They did some sick stuff that night. Zack had to be high as shit. Just watching him. He was right where we were. Def got that vibe off Murph, too. Sick, strange, twisted, all engulfing musical fantasmagoric insanity. Ever since then it hasnt been the same...and Im pretty sure its better.

Now its all LSD LEDs bringing back a crisp musical message from the future jam. Flashing lights, intense washes and flushes of sound. I love "the new soma" if you know othat song. In fact, IMO Peaceblaster is easily their best album.

And the fans...there are so many more of us now then then. Evenyone know and loves soundtribe now. At the first rothbury we were just sanding in the back craking up over the energy. All the badass fireworks comming up out of the crowd.

Man, I just wanna sit here and remember about tribe shows all afternoon...but I wont.

Ill just give a shot of love out to all the rest of the tribe. Keep that shit going stong. :mushroom2::rockon::mushroom2:

I honestly couldn't believe how many people ended up being there in total. Early in the evening, it was mainly just the lawn and people down in the pit. Then at some point, I think during bassnectar, I felt like I was in that rave scene from the second Matrix movie.

There were people everywhere, even in the seated section, the pit was full, and the lawn was full from left to right.

I'm not much of a dancer, but at some point the combination of music and chemicals in my body just prevailed. Plus, I also realized that no one is actually watching how everyone else dances. If you singled everyone out, they would look spastic, but in a large sea of people also spazing out, they look completely normal.

I know what you mean. Psylocybin (and a little beer) is like dance juice for me. When Im at a show I often feel like Im literally dancing off my high. People tend to associate dancing with rolling, but for me molly just makes me feel awesome...psychedelics make me wanna dance and make dancing feel great.

And when I say dancing I mean flailing around with a shit eating grin on my face, trying to keep it toghether.:tongue2:

I LOL'd.

Yeah i live like 10 mins away, not as close as the OP. But sadly I couldn't make it to this show. Most of my friends went though and they couldn't say enough good things about it. Sound Tribe is always great though.

Glad to see all these great reviews. :yesnod:

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to selfishness;
From selfishness to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

The 60s already happened and failed.

Yes.
While I crave music while rolling I don't necessarily wanna dance. Especially with good molly. That shit just floors me. Paste me to a fucking chair with a shit eating grin and sighing every minute talking about how great I feel. Just makes me feel awesome.

However on a good trip I can't sit still, and I'll fucking flail about all I want. Often it's extremely contained, but if let loose by myself it can get intense.

Did anyone catch their Tabernacle show the previous night? I was told the crowd energy and vibe there was fantastic.

Same way for me. Too much movement disturbs such an intense experience. And dancing to music assumes there is one continuous stream of stimulation which makes sense, though for me the deeper MDMA states twist and turn about, fluctuating and bouncing off the walls of beautiful obscurity... if that makes any sense.

Who said anything about he sixties? Somebodies been watching too many Woodstock documentaries and not attending enough  Bonaroos.

We're talking STS9, LSD, 2cb, the internet, the cutting edge, those who choose to dance on the event horizon of reality. I believe in a psychedelic renaissance of elite, competent users like Huxley envisioned. Everyone has the right to drop, but the work and change will be done by those brave enough to carry the torch. It started long before the 60s and will continue long after...they are simply a reference point, and a source of lessons to learn, like all history.

Citicacidx: You can't pay for those downloads, music should be free!

j/k See what I did there...making fun of a lame hipppy 60's attitude/perspective. Support the band however you see fit. We all should support them if we like what they do and want them to continue rockin' it.

I don't exactly know...I just know that there are better futures and worse futures possible. And that psychedelics, though not always the easiest path, have helped me to realize a better future for myself and those I affect; for myself and for my family. Psychedelics presence in my life keeps me diligent about continuing to work at making a better future unfold.

Like I say, this is not the path for all, but for those of us who hear the call...I see no other way.

It just makes me think of Bill Hicks "How do you make nature illegal?" I believe someday this planet is gonna run a little smoother, cleaner and kinder. And when our children look back on how we got from here to there, psychedelics in the right hands will have played a major role.

Although I could be completely wrong about this, that's what make it a belief....
