alien dreamtime

Just listened to Alien Dreamtime on a long drive. Terence McKenna is as much my hero now as he ever was. I see him as a sort of New-Age jester bearing a memetic utility belt for the beleaguered individualist. Is he fully serious? Or is he kidding around? The answer is, clearly, no.

I'm seriously considering having some of my non-psychedelics-enthusiast friends listen to this for a better idea of what he's all about, but I'm really not sure they'd get it or even want to. :lol:

I've never really read into him but I know he has some interesting things to say  about all that.

I for one would keep that a mile away from my friends. They'd think I was a write off in life,someone committed to getting out of his head.

I am but they just wouldn't understand. Like when they ask "What's tripping like?". What could you say to that???

My non-tripping friends don't seem particularly interested in what psychedelics do, which is disappointing to me, but whatever, life goes on.

That said, I can very easily see how McKenna might sound like some type of cult messiah (especially in Alien Dreamtime) if you don't give him the time of day enough to actually listen to what he's saying and realize he's not asking you to do a damn thing.

McKenna's great, you should read/listen more of him. A lot of people write him off as a crackpot but I don't think most of those people have bothered to follow his words very closely.

I think it's because of the way sounds, and how puts his words together. And the uneeded visuals

I think it's the Novelty Theory/Timewave-Zero bit that sticks in most people's craws. It's really easy to mistake it for exactly the kind of classical doomsday prophecy it satirizes.

Without McKenna I never would have learned of DMT. Just haven't obtained any though. I should get around to that someday.
