My parents did. And I can say, it only got me more angry, (infact, any punishment did.) and made me act even more difficult. Nobody punishes me! Punishment is stupid. Consequences are built into life, you can't get away with anything, and punishment makes it look like it is possible.

You kill someone, your soul gets eaten up from the inside, you hit a hole in your door, you need to get a new door.

I believe, parents shouldn't punish there kids, but they shouldn't help them out of bad situation either (unless life threatening.), they should rather explain to the kids what they shouldn't do and WHY, and if they do it, the why will become even more apparent.

Bullshit!  Your soul only gets eaten up if you aren't a sociopath and have been raised to believe that killing is evil.  Even then, most people aren't going to consider the risks to their souls prior to acting.  The consequences built into life work over the long term, and that's evolution.  The 'why' doesn't usually become apparent in time to teach the lesson, especially not with kids.

I was spanked.  I didn't like it and I don't know if it helped.  Don't know if I'll spank my kids...
