Re: Xyrem legal GHB [Re: the bizzle]

I don't know the story, but I know that GHB didn't do shit to your town's Mardi Gras.

So some dumbass G'd out in public and ruined the parade or something?

How is that the GHB's fault?

Alcohol will always be the #1 date-rape drug.

Don't believe the propaganda against GHB.

2 years in a row it led to multiple fatalities. ODs and car accidents. Of course alcohol was involved but some dipshit was going around spiking drinks with GHB

You're joking right? You're not aware that the sizures caused by withdrawal from gaba agonist drugs can lead to death?

Here's some info on the horrors of the withdrawals themselves.  I'll find you some info on deaths caused by gaba withdrawals too.

Man that looks like a Partnership for a Drug-Free America sponsored ad.

I don't buy into that shit.

I was requesting a source that offered some credible data analysis.

Don't worry about what I research.

That Erowid page is an excerpt from the Texas Drug Abuse Commission.

I really tend to be skeptical of potential propaganda.

I found this essay on Erowid too.

Strangely, it is written by an M.D. who claims that GHB is non-addictive.

Who to believe?

Hey look, if you want to ignore the facts that withdrawal from gaba agonist drugs is very nasty and in rare cases fatal you do so.

I believe in arming myself with knowledge and treating drugs with respect.  Doing so has meant that I've never had a dangerous incident with drugs and I'm 38 years old.

You do your thing, I'll do mine.

No need to get :crankey:

You're the one who does G, not me.

Am I really that nuts to assume that the media and anti-drug non-profit organizations possibly sensationalize the "dangers" of GHB?

I haven't seen those "facts" but I'm fairly positive I can keep myself from suffering from GHB withdrawals,

whether I read every biased article written about GHB or not.

I didn't say I'd post any.

How could I post a report of someone not dying from GHB withdrawals?

I am not saying I believe people can't die from GHB withdrawals,

but I don't feel compelled to believe people do die from them just because some anti-drug site says so.

Sure.

I did that to show that there are articles within the same Erowid fault with conflicting views.

See?

Of course the media sensationalize the risks, but thats not what we listen to.

Look like RupturedHernia said its a GABA agonist, as are benzos, alcohol and barbiturates. GHB is definitely "harder" than benzos because it knocks you out with no effort at all. Its common scientific sense to assume GHB's risks are inbetween alcohol and barbiturates, regardless of what media say.

In addition to that, some of us have seen people get in godawful trouble with the stuff, I know I have.

obviously one wouldnt be a fact if it had a reversed position of a fact

there's plenty of evidence that daily use for more than a week
produces some addiction, withdrawals can vary depending on the
severity of the addiction, you play it off as though GHB is a safe
drug and it's far from it... unless you can conclusively prove
otherwise

Re: Xyrem legal GHB [Re: Asante]

Yeah, I've seen people G out plenty.

I've also seen people get stupid drunk.

It doesn't mean I should by default believe that the withdrawals from either can be fatal.

GHB in moderation is probably safer than alcohol in moderation.

If GHB was so deadly, wouldn't there be a few articles about some deaths attributed to it?

How am I to be burdened to proove GHB's safety?

Shouldn't the burden of proof be upon someone showing valid proof otherwise?

And I'm not interested in articles about people who died behind the wheel while they were G'd out.

I'm talking OD's where alcohol wasn't a factor and deaths attributed to GHB withdrawal.

alcohol in moderation is quite safe and even healthy, is this also true of GHB?

the biggest problem with GHB is the fact that there's so few
studies done that can show you about the harm, you cant
conclusively say a cause of death was from GHB if the samples
measured are not always from the same body part in the autopsy,
we dont know at what levels it's found in various parts or the
duration at which it remains in those parts and given that it is
a naturally occurring substance in the human body, that makes
things even more difficult

while it may be less harmful than alcohol according to some
studies, does it not stand to reason that harm=harm, this
website is here to help prevent that by eliminating the
misinformation and to teach people to err on the side of caution
