Tropical Storm Felicia - heading to Hawaii

There is a tropical storm heading our way, supposedly going to dump a lot of rain on us and possibly cause a lot of flash flooding.

My preparations have included:  filling up all our water bottles and bladders, hitting up the farmers market for a few more days of fresh veggies, re-upping my stash and re-stocking the liquor cabinet. The essentials, truly.

And from yesterday until the storm is past us...... I AM OFF WORK!!! I work for a tour company which gives tours in some of the areas most likely to get dangerous high winds and torrential rains. So all tours have been CANCELLED!!!! It's like a snow day, except for now the weather is 85 and partly sunny partly cloudy!! I went for a 10 mile bike ride this morning and took the dog on a nice long walk around the park. Other parts of the island are getting rain currently, but it is still mostly nice down here on my side. I am betting that the real rains won't start until late tonite/early tomorrow morning.

Hey J! Glad to hear you and the wifey are still doing well. It has rained every single day here on the Gulf coast. The cubes are plentiful, too! I need to go picking tonight as a matter of fact.

I hope you don't get flooded too bad, man.

Thanks man. I live on the leeward side, so we'll avoid a direct hit by the storm, but I bet we'll get a lot of rain and wind.

One thing I've learned about flash floods is that they're awesome.

Another thing I've learned is to have insurance.

We have renters insurance!

It's 5pm and breezy, but still sunny and nice on leeward Haleakala, Maui. I bet the rain still start in the early AM.

I checked the NOAA web site again and they've updated their graphic. Tomorrow afternoon is when it may be making its closest approach to us. Maybe, maybe not. Who knows, really.
