I thought all passifloras had a very mild MAOI in them.
Nothing useful, though.

Most passifloras have similar activity as P. incarnata.  P. incarnata is most commonly used because it is probably the safest and certainly the hardiest of the passifloras.  Other species may or may not have other not-so-safe chemicals (cyanogenic glycosides are often cited) but seeing as how many different passifloras are used medicinally across their native ranges I think it is relatively safe as long as use is not excessive or everyday.

Maybe in the context of comparing it to a MAOI source like B caapi or Syrian Rue but the plant itself has some pretty amazing effects when taken as a sleep aid.

Yeah, I meant useless for MAOI purposes.
For people that don't use many dr00gz it may have an effect. The juice of the fruits makes me lazy.

Just grab 20 leaves or so and gently boil them in a few cups of water for 20 minutes.  Doesn't taste half bad.  Do it before bed when your just chillin out to enjoy.  Takes on average (I've brewed it several times) 20 minutes and *ding* you got something going on.

From someone who smokes a lot and is no stranger to psychedelics you get a discernible effect from the mature leaves and flowers.  I hear the fruits don't contain any actives.

Passiflora careula had me tripping mildly using the 'ole check out the bathroom mirror trick which was accompanied by a euphoric body load to say the least.  I wouldn't advise anyone to try the caerulea sp specifically due to the presence of cyanogenic glycosides which can break down into cyanide (what I can say though is I think the amounts are negligible and that it is broken down when boiling but I'm not responsible for anyone who tries ).

Passiflora incarnata had the same effect only milder minus the shitty cyanide metabolite aspect of the caerulea sp.  Not to mention this plant makes you really sleepy in a non-drugged up kind of way which is pretty fuckin sweet.

Give it a try people I'm not the only one thats figured this out.  If nothing happens just use more of the plant material until you get an effect.

Harmaline is one of the actives amongst a few other harmala alkaloids present along with some others compounds found specifically in Passiflora incarnata (the one you see commonly in the US).
