If you're going to take someone down, take them down.

You're dealing in hypotheticals. Maybe the teller would give him the cash and he would kill everybody just to eliminate witnesses or show what a badass he is. The problem is common people NOT standing up to these people. Look at Sept. 11th: if the passengers on those planes had acted as a gang to take down those hijackers, the planes wouldn't have gone into those buildings and thousands of lives would have been saved. All the hijackers had was 1) boxcutters and 2) the timidity of their victims. 2) was far more deadly and powerful than 1).

You forget another scenario: teller calls bluff, bank robber pulls out gun, I as customer pull out my gun and blow that fucker's brains out before he can do a thing. Happy ending and a round of drinks for everyone to celebrate the death of lowlife scum!

I'm sorry but that is a really bad analogy. A bank robber wants one thing: money. If you follow protocol and let him run off with federally insured money then he will most likely be caught anyway, no one gets hurt, and no one loses a dime. Hijackers on an airplane probably have more violent intentions, don't you think? Two completely different situations. Besides, I'm pretty sure some passangers on one of those planes tried to do just what you suggested, and no lives were saved.

well not many states other than texas let most people wander around with guns. in ny it took me 9 months of tests and random meetings with police stopping by and with judges to get a concealed carry permit. some states its even harder and nyc you can forget about it.another thing, say you pull your gun and shoot the guy, say you hit the target the bullet rips threw him and kills a teller. what would you think the consequence for you would be for playing hero

Yes, YOU the customer lose, as I proved in my prior post. Who knows what the intentions of hijackers are? It used to be they just wanted a few hostages to demand the release of prisoners, then they would let everyone go. No one on those planes thought their intentions were a suicide campaign. BOTTOM LINE: no one knows what someone's intentions are. Are you willing to trust the rationality and good intentions of a bank robber wearing a balaklava and claiming to have a weapon? I'm not. I'll let you sit there like a coward in the corner and trust in his rational nature and good intentions. Me, I'll blow his fucking head off.
