Re: Trumpets of Death and other cool shit from this week [Re: koraks]

Nice jar! I'm hoping for a jar like that by the end of the fall, but I've only ever found one small "king" around here...time to expand my hunting grounds!

Great trompettes des morts collection, beautiful! They apparently are far too scarce here in my country to collect them. Indeed, I have yet to find my first one...

Thanks, Koraks! They quickly became one of my favorite mushrooms. This is my first collection and second observation of this species. I observed a lone specimen last October and went yesterday to check my one and only "patch" and there they were! I left as many pins as I picked, so I'll be going back for more soon.

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

Never seen them around here, both the guidebooks on mushrooms advice not to pick them due to fact that they are rare here :frown:

Yeah, exactly the same here. This August, I'll be in Germany for a week. I'll definitely head out into the woods to see what I can find. Maybe...just maybe...there'll be some nice cantherelle species. At least I'm hoping for a meal of freshly  picked c. cibarius and perhaps some poricini. That'd be just splendid.
