I'd totally devote a whole section of a Rube Goldberg using them.

I was saving my empty whippets for a while...

But I ended up just throwing them in a dumpster.

Scrap yards pay by the weight.

so if one whippit is 5-7g (im just guessing, ive never weighed one), then 500 ~ 6.6lbs.

Steel is arond 6 cents a lbs, and thats being very generous, probably closer to 3, depending on grade of steel, and if its stainless, which is unlikely.

So you will make 40 cents.

I always wished they made em out of aluminum. They would cost a little more, but aluminum is around 36 cents a pound.

And RobMarley, that's a shit ton of whippets.

To bad to threw them away. :crankey:

My buddy collects them.
He's been collecting them for years, and when we do whippets we do a lot of whippets.

I think he has 10's of thousands

I like the black powder idea. all you gotta do is pack em full, insert a wic, then seal the top with hot wax. then bore out a hole in a tree jsut large enough for the canister to fit into. Light and run away, bu tbe sure to yell timber.

this can also come in ahndy in fortifying your yard against the inevietable zonbie apocolipse, bu tyou will need a collection of electronic detinators.

I'd use epoxy on the top, not hot wax. Or Mighty Putty, seriously. That's just another type of epoxy anyway.

Be careful if you fill them with black powder though. Friend of mine threw one in a dumpster and it blew the lid off and made one of the sides bow out. Lots of power in those things. And they're farrr from being legal.

Epoxy is better, but when you live in the woods and you get bored, the only logical thing to do is blow shit up!

We also used those charges to create a slope so that we could access the creek in my backyard with our 4wheelers. that day was awesome!
we were pretending to be blast masters and debating when and where to set the charges.

How much power do they actually have? I've never tried it before.

Say you were to put one in a car, what would be the result? No I'm not going to blow up a car, I'm just using that as a standard.

You can fill the hole thing with powder if you want. Id say if you were to just fill one w/ powder and throw it in a car, It would do severe damage to teh interior, probably bust/blowout the windows!
Where the real power comes in is if you have it embedded in someting ie. a tree stump.

It's a love-hate thing for me. I love the south in small doses but it will always be a part of who I am. Nothing like a going out with some buddys with shotguns, assault rifles, and a case of beer and going out shooting. Spray paint can next to a fire + shotgun with slug rounds = :awesome:

Where the hell does he keep them?

If I kept all the whippets me and my friends have done I'd have a closet full.

Scrap steel pays $60/ton and around here they would pay you for anything less than 500 lbs.

can anyone weight an empty cartridge and get an exact weight?
