Identify this mint?

I have had this little patch of mint growing in my garden since I moved in. I think its plane old garden mint but im not sure.

Can you identify it pleas?

sorry my pictures aren't very good... they where taken with my phone (my camera broke) so what can you expect :smile:

haha, Does it smell like mint? Does it flower at all? the pictures make it seem kind of dark and purplish.. I've seen chubbier mint leaves.. but also ones like that..

yes it is mint :smile: it smells like mint... tastes like mint but that's not the point! The question is what Species is it?

And yes the picture do make it look dark and purple but that's just the shitty camera and lighting. the leaves are quite a deep green though.

God, there are thousands of species in Lamiaceae, the mint family.  And scores more of naturally occurring and cultivated hybrids. It would be extremely difficult for anyone to ID off foliage images alone.  Precise description of odour is important, as are the flowers. 

Offhand I would say it's probably something within Mentha, the true mint genus, but certainly don't hold me to that.

Exactly... The only one I have ever been able to identify 100% positive is wild field mint.. but cultivated garden varietys are extremley difficult to identify.. atleast for me... 

I'm sure it's edible but if you have your doubts get it checked! I forgot what the places are called but they can 100% identify it for you.

To bad it's not Corsican Mint. I could do that one. I think TC should rip those plants out and plant Corsican Mint.
