Was wondering if anyone was interested in setting up some small quke tournaments ormatches just for fun or to earn rates or other small prizes or sumthing? anyone?

im a quake 1 and 3 master.

i doubt a web version compares to real quake though.

Its actually basically the same as quake 3.  Same engine, a lot of the same maps.. I played it for a bit.  I might play in a tournament if i wasn't busy when one was organised.  Sounds good to me.  You should check it out for a sec though Grav, its ppretty impressive.  Not perfect, not exactly the same as quake 3 or anything, but pretty good. I was skeptical and then i tried it.

yea man its for sure worth it. i have quake 3 as well and i play quake live more....

but anyways i was wondering if u guys think it would be a good idea to form a sign up sheet and create ladders or something. let me kno.

i would be willing to organize the whole thing, but i would want to make sure at least enough people are interested before i get a bunch of things together for nothing. so let me kno people. check out www.quakelive.com and give it a try. Then we will see if u have what it takes.

yea a few, and u can get Q3 free as a torrent, but quake live has way more people new maps and updated constantly, plus it keeps tracks of ur stats, tons of avatars to choose from, its a great free game no doubt.

better graphics to. more smooth.

i think if we organized it correctly we could have a pretty sweet little tourny, maybe for prizes  maybe not, but also just team up and game whenever as well. fun to have company when gaming.

hey its all good with me man. i was just trying to throw in a little incentive. although none is needed really. quake with freinds is a really good time. expecially with teamspeak or sumthing and we can come back here and brag and talk shit. :lol: maybe if we can get some regulars we can do like a scheduled once a week game. like eg. Wednesday 6;00pm or whatever.

plus its 100% free and takes like 10 mins to set up an account and start playing. u can play right in your browser or fullscreen, no lag, tons of players, fun fun fun. lol

Teamspeak is a good idea. As far as private games, I suppose the only way would be to try to get all the participants to join at once before random people can come on. Or we could do this with actual quake 3 - I believe the game has the private server option.

ok well then yea. quake 3 would probably be better. its just a little harder to get, you have to buy it or get a torrent. ill get a link for the Q3 torrent i have. its works 100% online and everything. ill bet back to u.

I have Q3 installed. But ya, might be harder to get more ppl to participate. Then again, if enough ppl sign up for this, once we have the preliminaries out of the way, it would be more convenient to have a private server ready to go vs having to deal with other quakelive users and so on.

i agree. well if your willing to try and organize something like this with me then im all for it. ill probably need some help tho.

also, do you think maybe there is a better game or virtual environment that we could form a large shroomery gathering on? like www.secondlife.com or www.kaneva.com ?? try checking out those links and let me kno what u think on that.


as far as a tournament, can u think of any other good free competitive games that can be easily downloaded and run fine on most average computers??

Never tried second life but dont you have to pay a fee? Eitehr way dont see much appeal in it.

I suggest we stick to FPS's cause then theres at least some goal.

Besides Q3, UT99 would also work well and has unrestricted online play with a torrent download, but its a somewhat bigger download i think.

GTA:SA with the multiplayer mod would be fun but that would be too much hassle for everyone to get.

i agree, and i kno no one is gona go for runescape, although i actually enjoy that game. so we should probably go with Q3 or Q-Live.
