is this a scam?
    #10476701 -

i posted to sell somethin on ebay and this is the email i got (after the first email he sent):

Thanks for the mail...
I want you to get back to me with your PayPal email address so that i
can send the payment to you cos i dont have a pick up arrangement for
this transaction, due to my busy schedules at work, so i will be
adding an extra amount to cover the shipment cost and handling fee
with insurance to the money i will send to you, so that you can help
with the shipment of the item to the confirmed shipping address from
PayPal, and the shipment will be via USPS Express Mail Service for a
fast and secure shipment to the destination..so kindly get back to me
with your PayPal email address so that i can proceed with the payment
for the item and the shipment can be attended to as soon as possible..
Regards

I'm pretty sure he could find your paypal email pretty easy if he really want to. You'd just be doing him a favor

He can't really do anything with the address hacking wise and he's sending money so I don't see why you shouldn't provide it to him.

It does look somewhat more complex than it should be, like he's trying to blag you, though.

piece of advice, allow the money to be transfered into your bank
account from paypal before shipping, use something for shipment
tracking and also insurance so he cant refute the claim later. if
it's a foreign address that it's being shipped to then it's a high
probability of a scam and these additional steps will cover your ass

They dont let you do that anymore.  A recent change to eBay is that you must use PayPal for all transactions and they do no unfreeze your payments until good feedback is left for the transaction.

so ebay has decided to side with the scammers because I can
receive the goods and leave bad feedback claiming I've received
nothing... it's because of the policies they kept deciding to
implement every week that I stopped using their services

When did they start that? Cause I sold two weeks ago, and I always get my money first. It's probably because your feedback's low.

You get your money sent to you in a check or deposited into your bank account before you ship?

Yea, thats what I said...  PayPal holds your money hostage until you get positive feedback.

Positive feedback from the transaction your trying to get the money for? Cause I always get my money right away without feedback, unless one of my feedback ratings drops below 4.1 ebay warns me when that happens about holding it hostage. But hasn't happened yet.

Get your money right away?  You just said "No through PayPal".  "Getting your money" does NOT include having in your PayPal account.  You do not actually have your money until its in your bank or cash in your hand.  Your PayPal account is not insured and not regulated - they hold your money hostage in PayPal until you get positive feedback.  Like I said before, you do not get your money right away - it sits in PayPal account waiting for feedback or 21 days (if I remember correctly).

No. I get my money in my bank account from Paypal before I ship.
