well, at least respect the fact that he is not only the first politician to even go as far as to say that, but also become president.

i think "flip flopping" only really counts if you do or say something to get a vote.

i dont think barack obama has flip flopped on this view, but what he is saying is the war on drugs is indeed an utter failure, if hes lying about anything its that he doesnt think marijuana should be legalized.

i think he in fact does, but doesnt want to make the same mistake carter did, and fuck up america by having these republicans back in office.

by the end of his second term, he will have "flip flopped" and may not necessarily push for legalization, but will set up the status quo of progressing forward on that.

also when asked about the increasing violence in mexico about the drug war, he at least said "yeah, how about we stop the guns they are buying here from going back, rather than the drugs they just simply make more of"

to me, honestly, a politician can only be succesfull if he has the support of the people, until enough people (and its getting close) come out in support of legalization, he cant blatantly support it.

he never really states hes AGAINST legalizing it, did you notice? can you even think of one politician, (besides ron paul, who had no chance of winning due to being republican) who says anything against the war on drugs?

^ That's the same old horseshit they said about clinton who was as worthless as a president ever was. Obama has flip flopped on every issue so far and has outright lied about not raiding pot dispensaries. He is worse than a flip flopper.

They said back then that maybe clinton was worthless about pot his first term but it was because of politics and give him a second term and he'll do something. He did nothing about it either term. A worthless bum. Now they are saying the same crap about obama. Barry is a tool of the establishment.

If he doesn't get a second term they will say he was saving all his good stuff for the second term. If  he gets another one, he will do nothing and people will say "at least he wasn't as bad as the other guy would have been". I already know what you people are going to say before you say it.

In a sick twisted way, I'm almost glad I lost my right to vote.  I have a clean conscience every time the elections are over because I simply cannot participate in them.

Eh...I think its fairly obvious that obama will not legalize marijuana. I'm hoping the gop introduces a hip young candidate that is basically the same as ron paul, minus the quib about ron paul wanting to ban contraceptives.
Then, obama, thinking he has the 2012 election in the bag, will get stomped by the gop. However, I don't think the republican party is smart enough to introduce a candidate who isn't an old white guy. It would be against their code of ethics, hahaha.

But seriously. Well...I am going to bring up the topic of drug legalization at a symposium for my college in the next few weeks. Should be good. I will be ready to refute ALL points from the pro-prohibition side.

How can I respect a cowardly bigot that will ruin peoples lives for doing the same thing he did before he became president?  I feel the same way about Clinton and Bush Jr. for the same reason.

i dont think i agree with how he responded to that question, but i do agree that the concept of, and i think this was what he was getting at, is that its not...


1. legalize marijuana

2. collect tax dollars

My thoughts exactly. His exact words were "no, I don’t think that is a good strategy to grow our economy.” Maybe legalizing pot wouldn't 'grow' our economy, but it might help stop the bleeding a little. Do not give up yet, just educate yourself and speak out when possible to those around you, educate.
