Technophiles: What's the best AT&T cell phone?
    #10283824 -

No god damnit, don't say iPhone. I hate touch screen technology, I have to have real buttons. Also, I'd like to avoid Windows Mobile if possible.

I guess that pretty much leaves me to a BlackBerry. Whats the best one on the market nowadays?

What about that Google phone? Worth two shits? Not to sure I wanna bother with hacking it and all that mess. That way I don't get the warranty through AT&T. I don't guess it matters though, my phones seem to like to go swimming.

iPhone.

:smirk:

For serious, why do you need 'real' buttons?

What about an Iphone?

Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.

Because I have stupid large hands that just don't work well with touch screens. At least with buttons I can be a little more tactile and make kinda precise movements. With a touch screen I usually hit 3 letters at a time. I just can't angle my thumbs the right way to NOT hit 3 buttons because of the way the phone sits in my hands.

But the hits don't register until AFTER you pull away your finger... and it previews the letter, so you can tell which you are pressing and just rotate your thumb a little until the right one appears...

Plus, the buttons magically resize themselves (invisibly) with predictive typing, so the next logical letter is actually much larger than it seems.

I got big thumbs, and it's really not bad to catch on... and the giant screen is worth the effort.

If you've tried one for awhile, and hated it... nothing I can say. But if you are avoiding it simply because it's a touch screen, well... it's more than just that!

It's just that 9/10 people I meet would trade phones with me after they see it in action.

If you are patient, you might give Windows mobile 6.5 a shot, but its not due out until September or so.

I'm not sure AT&T carries an android phone right now, so it seems as though you are stuck with a blackberry.  The curve has got rave reviews but seems a bit dated.  The "bold" is a step up and might be what you want.

EDIT: other than that there may be some proprietary phones that run there own unique OS's but those aren't fun since they lack software expandability.  But if your needs aren't that great they may be worth looking in to.

I've been thinking about going with the Bold. HTC seems to have some decent looking phones, but the last time I had an HTC (Wizard/8125) the same model broke 3 separate times with 3 separate problems. Anyone have any input on the quality of HTC's newer phones?
