I think you honestly have a problem with gay people. Maybe you don't mind them, maybe even have some as friends, but at the core you feel a real sense of superiority as a heterosexual.

*Sigh* don't jump to conclusions.... I don't think I'm superior because I'm a heterosexual... I think I'm superior because I'm Black.

You see my point though don't you? If you're incapable of making a valid argument thats how it comes off. Your argument is flawed.

My argument is flawed?  Please elaborate.

It's based on the logic that because the kid may be bullied at school due to his different family, the government should not allow same sex couples to adopt.

By the same logic, would you agree that it is necessary to keep children from being adopted by...say...interracial couples? Cause that was pretty fucking taboo at some point in time.

What about restricting the rights of couples that include a handicapped person?

You don't think kids are cruel enough to make fun of others for those reasons as well?

Black kids shouldn't be taught at predominantly white schools, cause god knows the kids are going to beat them up.

Different situations, obviously, but explain to me what fundamental difference there is.

imagine as a child you have to explain to your classmates that you have 2 daddy's or 2 mommy's. That just fucks up any childhood. in many ways.

On that same note, imagine growing up with two parents who "accidently," got the woman pregnant and them "sticking it out," to "raise them in a normal family," only to end up growing up with two people who hate being around each other.

I would rather feel awkward saying I have two fathers who love me unconditionally than saying I have a mom and dad who fight all day and all night.  I don't understand that logic one bit.  I'm with wiccan 100%.

so fucking true man.

explaining 2 moms or dads somehow fucks up a childhood?  wtf are you talking about?

I just feel bad for the kid growing up and getting made fun of for it, there will always be gay jokes like there's racist jokes it's one of those things that will not pass over in a short amount of time, at least in our life time, and I don't think the child being raised would like going to school and being teased with a ridiculous amount of comments.
So nah

I don't think people are as affected by inter-racial couples adopting.
It was cool to be black in my predominately white high school.

Ultimately, it is the duty of the adoption agency and the government to ensure the safest route possible for children as well as the most socially well-constructed family.
Unfortunately, in this current time, this does not include homosexual parents.
Not only does the tormenting at public schools raise concern, but also the roles both mother and father would inherently play which would not be available to the child if both of the parents were the same sex.
Professionals understand that when children go through different physiological phases in their lives, E.G. menstruation for girls, puberty etc. that it takes specific gender guidance.
Granted, if a single father, who lost his wife in a plane crash and had no other family to speak of, would assume the responsibility of advocating the role of the mother and teaching the female child about menstruation and how to put on make-up... perhaps a close family friend could help as well... but ultimately it is his fatherly duty and rite, as when an adoption agency is faced with two men having to undergo such a responsibility with a non-biological relationship, it raises too much uncertainty.
Two men going to show a little girl how to put a tampon in?  Two women going to explain to a little boy why he has an erection? or how to Fix the roof and be a man?

Two men, or Two women raising a child, while there are many arguments for it, does not provide the same kind of substance and structure that a family with a Mother and a Father do.
That's the reality of it my friend.

You know you're grasping at straws when you justify your beliefs on the chance that, "kids might get mad fun of."

that is a pretty pathetic reason.

words arent weapons....the kids getting made fun of choose to be hurt by the sounds people are making at them.

if you are taught that the kids that make fun of you for that shit are r e t a r d e d, then you really shouldn't sweat it much.  taking rights away from people because of your fear of the consequences is un American and just stupid in my opinion.

and how on earth do you know that 2 men or 2 women cant provide just as good as an environment as half of the other families out there today.  you dont make sense.

I think it's a sin... women without husbands are whores and should be smitten by God and be damned to live an eternity in hell.... that's what you want to hear isn't it?

Well, really, I feel for single parents... because a woman or man has to take on two roles to try to give the best for the child... it's an inconvenience... just like if two men raised a child... there would be a motherly presence lacking and if two women raised a child there would be the fatherly presense lacking.

Which part? The baseless part? Where you have not a shred of evidence to support your theory? Or the untrue part, where you have made a baseless lie?

Look bud, I don't know if you actually have met someone raised by a same sex family (and guessing by your stance you certainly haven't) but they are just as functioning as someone raised by a normal family, if not more. Hell, my highschool buddy is going to Harvey Mudd for calculus and he was raised by two women. He's doing a lot better then me raised by my heterosexual parents.

and that doesnt happen constantly everywhere already?

i had no father growing up...nothing to do with gays at all.  that is just life.  you cannot deny rights because of a weak argument like that.

You do realize that homosexuals often break from typical gender roles right? And that it is possible to have both influences even if the physical set up is different.

Apparently we have many very liberal people here when it comes to this topic. As i respect all opinions and can relate to it. they are all opinions none the less. No one can say for fact if is bad for the development for the child or not.  I say the chances are very probable in the long run with small babies and infants. for extended periods of time. and other than some nice positive stories. noone can say for certain it wont be. damaging For closure i would like to state a recent study:

Lesbian and bi sexual women have more psychosocial health complaints than their hetero counterparts. They suffer from stigmatizing about their sexuality. they have sleeping problems, suffer from fear, depressive feelings, are suspicious and think that they cannot function properly. This are the conclusions of a study performed by the University of Amsterdam. Interviewed 1327 lesbian and bi sexual women. The study was in assignment of Stichting ondersteboven.

mind you a organisation about lesbian acceptance by society.

my source in dutch im sorry: you can find it here:

http://www.dag.nl/binnenland/lesbiennes-vaker-depressief-en-moe-256236

In the end how it will go.. i hope it will always be in best interest of the child.

it cannot be more damaging than most of the families in the US already.  the divorce rate is over half...teen pregnacy is way up...kids are being neglected more than ever by their "normal" families.

what this comes down to is an issue over peoples RIGHTS.  denying rights because of fear of consequences is just not valid.  sure it could be damaging and it may not be, but that is not the point.  there is damage being done already, anyways.  this is about RIGHTS!
